She was content to follow in his wake even if she was piss-poor at the blade and would have made an absolute shit cavalier for him. She forced her way through the drills, anyway, because she would find a way to become better for him through sheer tenacity if not raw talent. She would not tolerate a world where she was not glued to his side like an additional limb.
When a year after their arrival she sang off-beat during a hymnal and admitted she was keeping time with the blood in the veins of the congregation, not the music, with apologies mumbled through every third word, the truth came out.
Lucien was not the adept- she was.

No one would ever accuse Artagan of not being clever and creative, but when Jester called out to him after being trapped in a cell that even his power couldn’t penetrate easily, he knew he had to do something… Drastic to heed her wishes and give her a miracle.
The Nein can work some impressive miracles, but they’re not what he needs. He knows what he needs. The very definition of risky and tricky.
