The knight stood up straighter and nodded. “Yes! I was trained growing up, you know, to be a knight. In magic. And things.”
“And things? Where are you from?”
“Gelderland. A small township. Brilliant but far… far away.”
“Is this your first tournament?” Eliot asked.
“Yes. No! No. It’s not, but it is my first one HERE. In Rouen.” At Eliot’s bewildered expression, the knight continued. “I’m sorry, you’re just… you’re royalty, yes? I’ve never really spoken to any members of the royal families before, and you have really nice eyes and you’re so tall and I’m… going to stop talking now.”
Eliot had to try hard to suppress the grin from forming on his face. Even though what the knight was saying didn’t really make sense (you had to speak to someone in royalty to even become a knight), that didn’t stop the flirtatious tone flowing from his lips. “Please don’t stop. I would hear you speak if it cost me my ears.”
The man’s face had been tinged pink, but at Eliot’s words, they blossomed into full scarlet.
Again, just unable to contain himself, Eliot continued “Are you sure you’re a knight? I don't think I've ever met one that blushed before.”

Eliot keeps vigil.
"You need to understand that he - he did this for us, for everyone. He had to take a risk and it worked, but he was hurt real bad, El. He’s - I can’t honestly say that he’s okay. He’s still out."
Eliot took a moment to process this information, that Quentin was hurt, which meant he was nearby, but he wasn’t all right, which meant in some ways he was not nearby, and in some ways he was becoming less nearby by the second, and every moment Eliot was laid up and not closer to him was a waste because what if he was never nearby again?

In which everyone is a bit older and a bit wiser.
Quentin is the successful author of a bunch of romance novels. He's searching for inspiration for his next book and maybe looking to live a little vicariously through his characters once again. He's doing his best; taking his meds, seeing his therapist (who somehow tolerates him), and feeding The Catwins every night. Everything is fine until Quentin realizes that he himself could live out some of the fantasies he's only put into writing before.
Eliot is settling down somewhat in his thirties. While he's still as fabulous as ever, working as a costume designer. He's content as can be in his own little kingdom--really. Well, that is until Quentin comes calling and well and truly throws a complete wrench into things with one simple request. Then he begins to wonder if he was ever really content at all.
Also, theres a colony of feral cats.
Or the one where Quentin might just end up living happily ever after and there's lots of kinky sex.

Now: When Eliot wakes up, everything is wrong. Quentin is missing, leaving only ominous letters behind, and no one seems to care. He needs to understand what happened while he was gone. Why something in his body is telling him things were worse than they seemed. He has to find Q, at least make sure he's still alive.
Then: The monster is fascinated by Quentin. And Quentin? Well, he loves Eliot and he needs to keep his body alive for him to return... and he is a weak, selfish man. Really, he shouldn't have expected better from himself.

“Ye-es?” Quentin says.
“And you’re a brave boy,” Eliot says. “Open to delving into the unknown. Looking for your next great adventure.”
“I, uh.” That isn’t how Quentin would normally describe himself, but somehow — with Eliot’s hazel eyes shining at him, the full force of his warm, encouraging energy focused on Quentin’s face — he sits up a little straighter, and says, “Sure, I guess.”
“Great,” Eliot says brightly, “so how would you like to pretend we’re dating for a week so we can get into the most secretive magical couples’ party of the modern era?”

Summary
Not even being a magician can rescue Eliot's Solsti-yule-mas, this year. After graduation, he'd leapt at the chance to apprentice with a world-famous magical architect, even if her office was in the Midwest; but now, with a major deadline looming, he can't take any time off for the holidays; and an approaching blizzard looks like it's about to ground his best friend at LaGuardia, two days before Christmas. The only bright spot? Eliot's boyfriend just beat the storm—and he brought Eliot a very cool present.
Then their holiday plans take a sideways turn when—not even 24 hours into Quentin's visit—Eliot's mother shows up at their front door.

So I wrote a really, really angsty oneshot earlier and decided to make up for it with this cotton candy fluff fest.
Quentin doesn’t even remember falling asleep in the nook. But here he is, waking up, curled in on himself, with both of the sliding doors shut almost all the way. For a moment, he’s confused, mouth smacking together with sleep and thirst. He’s not sure what wakes up him up, but there’s a soft hum of voices beyond the doors. For a moment, he’s tempted to push them up and reveal himself, but the familiar sounds of Eliot and Margo’s laughing, followed by Todd’s disgruntled, confused grumbling, stays him for a moment.

“Tell you what,” Eliot says with a smile that sends a shiver down Quentin’s spine. “I’ll go jet skiing. If you agree to go out dancing tomorrow night.”
Quentin frowns, looking down. “Why do you want me to go out dancing? You know I’m—”
Now Eliot is the one rolling his eyes. “So you’ve said. ‘A horrible dancer.’”
He takes a step closer, and Quentin forces himself to stay in place, even as his heart picks up speed and his eyes flicker up to Eliot’s chest.
“I want to go out dancing and I want you to come with me. And I want you,” Eliot says, and Quentin’s eyes snap up to his face. He’s staring down at Quentin, his eyes a darker shade of amber as his mouth pulls up into a smile that Quentin instantly remembers from many dark nights at the mosaic. “To dance with me. Deal?”
Quentin holds his breath as he stares back, his mind reeling with Is this a date? Is he asking me on a date? Of course not, don’t be— “Yes,” he finally chokes out. “I’ll go dancing. If you go out on a jet ski with me.”
Eliot takes a step back, becoming more relaxed. “Deal,” he says. “Now let’s pack up our shit and go rent a jet ski.”
The gang goes on vacation. They deserve one, don’t they?
