For all intents and purposes, Nihlus Kryik died on Eden Prime... shot cowardly in the back of the head, and left in a pool of his own blood. But as Shepard stood from her seat beside the MedBay cot, she gently squeezed the turian's talons as she always did, and finally received a weaker one in return. Smiling in relief, she left her partner to his rest; the curve of her lips turning into a full grin, when she found Garrus and Wrex waiting for her in the Mess Hall. The krogan tossed her a MRE bar without a word, before the turian held out a bottle of water. Unable to help it, Shepard laughed, easily understanding their silent jibes. But before she could say anything, Joker called over the comm: “Hey, Shep? ETA five minutes... and it looks like they've rolled out the welcome wagon.”

Loyalty. During childhood, boot camp, military service. Loyalty: a virtue every turian was supposed to possess from birth, to the Hierarchy, first and foremost.
Garrus had always, secretly, disagreed. It was something to be earned.
And with her, such had been.
Commander Shepard had secured his deepest loyalty, and only when he saw her for the last time, before the Normandy SR-1 was taken down, did he understand how right his mother was. -

Story is mostly canon compliant (with minor fix-its), with many scenes and dialogue exchanges pulled straight from the game. Original scenes and storylines are contextualized with canon missions and world events.
Chapters will explore crew dynamic between plot points and fleshed out side-missions to enhance the Chance Effect narrative.
And finally- and most importantly- there's no Shepard without Vakarian.
