She stands frozen, watching him disappear around the corner, the door swinging shut behind him with a hollow finality. Her hand falls back to her side from where it had hovered moments before, and she swears she can still feel the texture of his waistcoat against the pads of her fingers. She can feel the heat rising in her face, the thrill of their flirtation turning sour with embarrassment.

Nheil De Riva is returning home after defeating the gods and cleaning up the mess left behind. They haven't seen Lucanis since he was called back on first talon business and that was almost a month ago now. Unfortunately when they finally are back together, Rook barely recognizes him, and not just because he is clean cut and clean shaven (though that is not helping.) They will have to evaluate their own relationship with their family; as well as help Lucians navigate his relationship with a brother who betrayed him and a grandmother who wont let him control his own life.
This sounds like way more angst than it actually is. It’s more of a reflection on how we express ourselves and how to balance duty and family. Especially with the fuckery that is being an assassin’s guild that is also family.

“I’m going to kill you, you piece of shit,” Rook tells him, and shifts on their knees to face him. Solas laughs.
They hadn’t realized it would feel like this, seeing him again. The ball of grief that has made itself home in their chest goes supernova; their rage white-hot.
“No need for the expletives.” Solas’ indiference is like kindling. Rook lunges forward, tries to grab his ankle and trip it, and the pressure increases. They clench their teeth until it aches. “Please, Rook. Let us have a civilized conversation.”
Rook laughs. “You’ve never been civil in your fucking life, wolf,” they say. Something glints in his waist—he’s clipped the dagger to his belt, and it glimmers with its own light. There is a quiet hum coming from it, that beautiful lyrium song.
