Summary
"Oh," Shiver murmured, whisper quiet, trying to ghost their hand down Frye's side, to her hip, to touch her warmth just once. "What happened?"
Frye shrugged, cheeks warm, deliriously happy. "Just wanted ta kiss you." Shiver's hand stilled on her thigh, thumb rubbing circles there before their other hand came up to cup her cheek. Frye's eyes fluttered shut, a trill in her throat as she pressed against the touch, palms pressed against Shiver's firm chest for support.
The tables turned quickly, Shiver leveraging their newfound control to flip the pair over, Frye lying on her back staring up at them, face open and trusting. Something inside them gave way, shattered into tiny pieces and embedded in their ribs; every breath an ache, hearts pounding in their throat like they wanted to leap out into Frye, curl up in that warm place she reserved for them.
"I love you," they breathed out, a moment of weakness, because Frye was their Achilles Heel, Pandora's Box, something they couldn't turn away from just like a natural disaster.
"Love you too," Frye said, as if it were the easiest thing to say in the world.

“Well, in that case…” Shiver starts, sauntering up behind Marie and drawing their arms around her waist, “Keeping your body heat stable is important, no?”
Frye sighs. “Just show me where the nearest ramen shop is and I’ll be good!”
Marie, determined not to let Shiver win in this impromptu battle of flirtation, thrusts her phone into her pants pocket and grabs Shiver’s arms. The flustered squeak she receives in return when they’re pulled in closer is music to her ears.
