The door opened up fully and revealed Dazai.
Always one for theatrics, Kouyou eyed their appearance closely.
They had their hair tied up neatly into a bun, their own odd way to tell Mori that they’re owning up to returning the mafia. They dressed just like the same they did back in their days at the mafia, just with less bandages, an added pair of gloves and their bolo tie instead of a black necktie.
She paused when she spotted the bandages wrapped around their left eye instead of their right. She blinked, startled to find the coat Mori tailored not draped around their shoulders and instead, they were actually wearing it.
Embracing the darkness.
She pressed her lips together.

It was scary.
How Ranpo can see through everyone, find all the darkest and deepest secrets of anyone if he simply desire and no one would protest. How Dazai can figure out anyone’s character within a day and can manipulate anyone into getting a reaction and action of whatever they wanted and no one would even bat an eye.

Unnerved.
That’s the one word Chuuya would pick to describe how he felt on their way towards their boss’ office.
How silence the walk in general was, how Dazai walked with a straight back, chin lifted and a malicious smile, bangs and bandages hiding their eye to him, how their mouth kept shut and just hummed, humming that same tune from the elevator a day ago.
Chuuya was unnerved, that Dazai was so quiet, when they were usually so loud and annoying, even back in their mafia days. But with one look towards Kouyou, cautious yet calm, tells him that the Dazai he met, worked with and maybe even befriended was once a quiet and dull child.

“Jealous Chuuya? He just holds a special place in my heart,” Dazai teased, cackling out near the end. They laughed louder, partly at Chuuya’s face and mostly at the fact that they gave away their position to three of the most powerful people in the mafia, who all remained oblivious to reality.

They glanced up towards Mori then shut the file, deciding that they looked suspiciously invested in Fyodor’s scheme to everyone else, as in romantically invested.
Because why else would anyone just caress a picture of a crime scene as delicately and lovingly as they just did after all.
“And before you ask, it’s not an affectionate petname.” They flashed a charming smile then leaned forwards, shoulders slumping down.
“I hope you realise Dostoyevsky and I are quite similar. It’s simultaneously less difficult and more difficult for me to figure him out. Fyodor-kun has quite the interesting mind, but I digress.”

“I know we all here have seen horrific things throughout our lifetime, but I recommend the kids to cover their eyes.”
His hand lingered above the mouse pad for a moment, giving them the opportunity to do so.
Tecchou brought their hands and covered Kenji’s eyes, who didn’t questioned it and just giggled.

Ranpo kept his eyes trained on Dazai as they opened the lid carefully, ignoring how on edge Kunikida looked, hovering over Dazai’s shoulders and being so close to Mori no doubt yet stubbornly staying by their side.
If Ranpo himself wasn’t so guilty over everything, he would’ve scoff and tell Kunikida how stupid his guilt is.

“Dazai-kun must be really stressed,” Ango speculated anxiously. His fingers were locked with each other, placed onto the table over the pictures. He slumped down and sighed out, “This must bad. This must really bad. ”

Summary
The mall is an overwhelming environment even as an adult. Dazai doesn’t need to regress to be blinded by the bright lights and bothered by the sound of people, and it's specially when she feels 22 that being surrounded by a crowd prompts her to dehumanize herself. When regressed, the paranoia that follows her daily gets worse, just like the anxiety that comes with feeling vulnerable at a place like that.
This time is different; Sigma’s hand is on hers as they walk through the entrance and the busy corridors greet them. "Sigma’s hand" might be an overstatement... The detective has her whole hand wrapped around a single one of Sigma’s fingers. Her hands are bigger than theirs, but that won't stop her from pretending otherwise.
"Alright, pumpkin, wanna go over everything again?" Her mama asks. Dazai answers them with a nod. "Alright, then. So, how do we avoid getting lost?"
"Hand on Sigma at all times!"

However, Sigma's new friend, he probably would've understood them in a second, he wouldn't have pushed and that's what Sigma liked about him, he understood and was willing to do anything for them. It was an understanding they'd had since the day they'd met. But Sigma's perception of the world kept them kindly appreciating his habits of gift giving, something they guessed was a habit from his past.
