Gale startled at the sound of Hestia’s voice, almost dropping his Bag of Holding on the floor instead of hanging it on its hook. “Nothing, my love,” he tried, turning to his fiancé with a hopefully reassuring smile.
They simply quirked one dark brow, their glowing green eyes warm with affection. "Nothing had you almost slam the door off its hinges.”
Gale winced. He rarely succeeded in hiding anything from Hestia. Not that he wanted to, they were the love of his life, his future spouse, but… “My first year class continues to be… less than ideal. It’s such a small thing, truly, but…”
Hestia wrapped their arms around him in a gentle hug, carefully maneuvering their horns to avoid goring him in the jaw. “I’m sorry, my heart. Is there anything I can do?”
Gale breathed in the scent of their hair, warm and a bit wild and alive. “Simply being with you helps. It always does.” He smiled, picking a small leaf out of their short, black hair. “Were you in the garden today, love?”

Gale carefully adjusted so he could lean back on the side of the tub with Tav between his legs, leaning back against his chest. The water held a scent of herbs and flowers, pieces of lavender floating on the surface reminding him of his old home whilst the lover in his arms told him he had found his new one.
“Silly, isn’t it,” Tav cupped their hands beneath the delicate purple sprigs, lifting only to watch the flowers flow out of their grasp before they could catch them.
“Forgive me, I’m not certain that I understand…” He caressed their cheek as they turned to look up at him, resting back on his shoulder.
“I was so…so sure that you would have your eye on someone else, that some noble would snatch your heart in an instant, that I decided to float away from your grasp when all that time you were reaching out.” Their smile was so bittersweet, he couldn’t help but kiss them.
