Summary

Nearly a month has passed since his elimination, yet Clock still wallows in a pool of self-pity and the fear of abandonment. Soon, a sequence of events builds up too much stress for him to bear, and he asks Two to send him to the elimination area. Expecting isolation, he's surprised to find a quiet haven for all the eliminated contestants to decompress and reflect in. He quickly finds an unexpected companion in Fries especially, and for the first time in ages, he develops a small spark of hope for the future.
The past continues to hang over him, though, and it makes him wonder— Is he truly capable of moving on? Or will he be doomed to the same loop of unimportance?

Bright moonlight dappled the water’s surface, shifting and scattering into silver shards with each ripple. The sky was reflected in the water, down to the tiny pinpricks of the stars and the paintbrush strokes of the galaxies that floated in the expanse of space above.
Beautiful, Tree thought, before his mind drifted to the accretion disk that always surrounded Black Hole, and how similar its swirling hues accented with the still-shining remains of dead stars looked to the reflections in the water.
