In an alternate universe, Lloyd didn't meet the ninja after getting kicked out of school-- at least, not immediately. He was left homeless until Lord Garmadon took over Ninjago and let him live with him in his palace.
Over three years later, Garmadon has been killed by Wu and the ninja, and they (forcefully) take Lloyd with them, and do whatever they can to comfort him-- it isn't exactly his fault his father was evil. But living with the people who murdered the only person who loved you for years isn't really a pleasant experience for Lloyd, and he's starting to wonder what the point of staying alive even is...

When Prince Lloyd Garmadon of Hyrule, central kingdom of Ninjago, wakes up half-naked in a cave with no memories and an old man telepathically driving him crazy with riddles, he’s done with the whole mess before he’s even started.
Which of course means that he’s the prophesied Hero of Destiny, and has to go on a cross-continental quest to save the world from the Overlord, a Deity of pure evil even the God of Time (his grandfather???) couldn’t defeat.
From freeing Divine Beasts, communing with the dead, unlocking secrets about himself he never would have dreamed of, and rediscovering his family, Lloyd has a lot to do, and all on a time limit.

⚠️ PART 2 OF A SERIES, SPOILERS FOR PART 1 BELOW ⚠️
After seventy years of tyranny, Emperor Garmadon has been defeated by the ninja during the rebellion's coup. In the aftermath, Ninjago falls apart into factions, headed by the Rebel Council and the Imperial Governors, each group desperate to gain control of the city in the power vacuum left behind.
Kai, after being captured by the rebellion and cut off from his powers, is tasked with bringing the people together before it's too late. Nya seems to be on his side, but with his old imperial allies imprisoned or missing, and the other ninja having complicated feelings about him, it's begun to feel like she's the only one. And if the threat of the annihilation of humanity wasn't enough motivation for him, he also has Lloyd's safety to worry about, whom the rebels only promise to continue to keep safe if Kai follows their commands.
Meanwhile, Lloyd is being carted across Ninjago by his malicious fiancée and her crew of bastards—with the ominous promise that his father is looking forward to seeing him.
