Summary
Mulder had been steadfast in his support while Scully was fighting cancer, and it's undeniable their relationship shifted as a result of their shared experience. Having recently discovered her own infertility, being around all the happiness of her nephew's impending arrival a heaviness weighs on her more than she'd expected. So when she suspects that her dead sister has been calling her from beyond the grave to lead her to her daughter, Scully feels she has to step in, and step up. She feels a connection to that little girl and needs to make sure she's cared for, so when Emily is orphaned she knows she'll have to adopt Emily. Mulder of course is right there by her side, and together they explore adopting a three year old girl, finding out more about that girl's origins, and exactly what happened to Scully's stolen ova.

She and Mulder are sent on a case deep in the south, to a small town Scully didn't think she would have to return to, in order to investigate the unsolved murders of two pre-teen girls and the disappearance of another.
Scully has not spoken to her barbarous, slightly unstable aunt for years. Now lodged in her aunt's Antebellum mansion in the eerie small town, Scully is thankful to have Mulder by her side.
Hardened by her own demons, Scully must come to terms with her own past if she wants to solve the case-and survive. -

This is a one-shot IVF story set sometime in seasons 5-7. Basically, it's Scully on bedrest after their first IVF attempt. I head-canon that they were probably trying for William for quite some time.
Sort of canon-compliant except in my version of events a) Emily never happened, b) Mulder told Scully about her eggs the second he found them, and c) Fox Mulder is that baby's dad.
I've never written a fanfic before, so I hope you all enjoy! :)
EDIT: This is now an ongoing fic of IVF scenes. At some point I will mark complete.

Just a little something inspired by a fan, on one of the legendary @scullbagmulder’s IG “Horny Q&A”, posted April 9, 2021. It turned out an almost diabetic-sweet, fluffy, angsty thing I never saw coming from such initial idea, LOL!
