“You’ll have to still want to hold on through what I’ll inevitably do,” says Will.

Hannibal doesn’t quite laugh, but Will hears his teeth catch wetly on what is surely a smiling lip.

“If that wasn’t the events of the last forty-eight hours or so, I’m not sure what that would be,” Hannibal says in good humor for a man recently shot and seeping unseen somewhere behind Will, never one to let Will’s pessimism stop him.

“You’ll know,” says Will, and feels dread rise constant and roaring.

Hannibal and Will are caught immediately after the fall, and Hannibal refuses to let go of Will. Will agrees to accept this and their incarceration, with one last condition.

He leaned in suddenly, staring at Hannibal with lustful, half-lidded eyes.

"One day....One day, I will let you dominate and wreck me the way I know you crave. And the way that I crave back. You'll pin me down, tear me apart, and absolutely ruin me, like the way you have in everything else.....But for once, you're not the one controlling me."

    Hannibal snarled hungrily.

    Will chuckled condescendingly.

"Being humbled is very becoming on you. We should do this more often."

“Will – what is this?” Hannibal asked. His glance tracked back and forth between pink lips and ocean blue eyes in hopes of finding the answer.

In response, Will pulled Hannibal closer, their upper bodies delightfully pressed together with the move. It looked, for a moment, like Will was narrowing down the space between their lips – only to stop just short of that sweet contact. “It’s a greenhouse.”

Huffing out a laugh, Hannibal reduced temptation by leaning his forehead against Will’s, cutting out the ability to accidentally kiss plump lips in gratitude. “I recognize that. Why do we now have one on our lawn?”

    “Cilantro,” Will muttered.

Their conversations were terse and minimal; brief confirmations of what was for dinner in the evening, or, ‘Do we need to stock up on more shampoo?’ It felt like a mockery of domestication. If Will had wanted a make-believe marriage with an unsatisfied wife, he would have gone back to his snow-clad cabin. Not that he legitimately believed that to be an option, no, Will had made a commitment when he pulled them off of the cliff, and he was going to stick with it, for real this time.

Will is struggling to deal with an aloof and strangely disconnected Hannibal and is shocked to find that Hannibal has been dealing with their ordeal in a more destructive manner than he ever would have imagined.

    “I’m sorry.”

“That’s a lie.” Hannibal rasps, lips soft on Will’s jaw. “I don’t regret what happened. If I’d died when we hit the water, I still would regret nothing. Death by your hand would be a beautiful thing, Will.”

Will runs his hand through Hannibal’s hair until he brings it to settle at the nape of his neck. He squeezes lightly, feeling how weak Hannibal is, lying against him. A beautiful thing. He thinks. It wouldn’t be hard to finish the job– just a little too much pressure. Hannibal wouldn’t fight it.

“You’re right, I don’t suppose I regret it.” Will kisses the top of his head. “You’re mine now.”

    “Yours.”

On the run after their battle with the Red Dragon, Will struggles with the consequences of his choice.

“Oh. Lovely. I’m as interesting to you as a corpse is. It’s what every girl wants to hear.” Will manages to deadpan, and earns a sharp nip to his stomach for his trouble that makes his hips twitch. “No, really, it’s kind of quaint to get a little good old fashioned objectification. It’s almost charming to know that when you look at me like I’m a piece of meat it’s meant in the most literal sense.”
