Summary
The future of House Cousland has long rested upon cousins Talvinder and Savreen, both daughters of the ancient Teyrnir. But in one night, that future is ripped away, and all that remains to them is a long war and an even longer road to revenge. As Grey Wardens, they must stop the Blight from consuming all of Thedas - and try to stop their grief from consuming all that is left of themselves.
Current warnings include: gore, death, implied suicidal ideation, trauma, torture, loss, and references to cannibalism and substance abuse, as well as indicated and skippable areas implying assault. Savreen Kaur and Ranjit Gilmore are based on the work of my friend UnderLavenderSkies.

This story is based off the content from the Ser Gilmore NPC mod for Awakenings. (I’m sticking with Rory as his nickname, so please don’t come for me that just what it says in the mod).
Nathaniel has always had a soft spot for the Cousland girl. Even during their brief time together when his father brought him to Highever castle before he was sent off to squire in the Free Marches. But Briala, now a hero of the fifth blight and Warden Commander of Ferelden's Grey Wardens, is married to her now fellow Grey Warden, Roland Gilmore. But what happens when Nathaniel's feelings for Briala get in the way? Will the pair indulge him, or is there something more at play to this game?

All Origins exist in the world of this series (not both genders, though), but Female Cousland is the Warden. All others either die during their stories or are just normal folks that might show up later. This leads to some canon divergence, obviously. Sometimes MAJOR canon divergence.
This story's title and general feel is inspired by "Moments Before The Storm" by Poets of the Fall. The individual chapters are named after a poem by Dante Alighieri from his Vita Nuova.

A novelization of my favorite playthrough with many liberties taken with the source material. This is my first posted work so be gentle :).
The youngest Cousland child had an ulterior function to fill within the Kings court, a protector of the prince that none would suspect. Enemies would evade guards and soldiers, even other noble and royal men. But who would suspect a young Teyrna withing the young prince's inner circle of being a threat to all who wished the boy harm? The Divine traditionally had a left hand, why not the heir to the Ferelden throne. Cirilla Cousland was once the shadow of Ferelden's throne until she was released from her service three years ago. Now a blight threatens the wilds of Ferelden's south.
