Summary
After walking away from her life in the city, Riley inherits her grandfather's farm in Stardew Valley with no plan except to survive. When money gets tight and her new friend Sam needs to move out of his mom's place, a roommate situation seems practical. Beneficial. Temporary.
When the town starts assuming they're together, fake dating becomes the path of least resistance. It's just pretend. Just until Sam figures out his music career and Riley figures out how to be a person again.
Except somewhere between the morning coffee routine and late-night songwriting sessions, the lines start to blur. And neither of them is very good at admitting when something stops being fake.
OR soon-to-be 100k-ish words of slow burn, mutual pining, everyone-can-see-it-but-them, and two people learning that finding yourself doesn't mean doing it alone.

Sebastian is truly depressed (and the descriptions of how he feels are so recognisable!). Sam is being understanding and sweet and takes the initiative with small touches. The way Sebastian responds to these touches is just such a gut punch but in a good way. The way he describes suddenly feeling something when he's felt numb for such a long time... beautiful. I'm not a fan of the American double-spacing but that's a really minor detail when the story is this good.
Favourite lines
He was there, and he was doing things, and things were happening to him, but he couldn’t recall anything in a long time that had elicited an emotional response from him.
Sam saw his face and pulled his hand away, apologizing, but Sebastian shook his head. “No, not that, I… Do that again.” That was weird. He felt something, that hadn’t happened in a long time, and it was weird. Weird, but…welcome?
He was funny, cheerful, thoughtful, and most of all, observant. He’d said the word that Sebastian had discarded a long time ago, thinking it was just him being an emo dipshit: depressed.
The brilliant, face-splitting grin returned, giving Sebastian another funny feeling inside that he grabbed onto and held fiercely. Feelings!

She knows exactly where to move her tongue to make him ache. Sam, on the other hand, is free-er, more loose. He’s full of feelings, and he kisses like the rising tide.
They’re both so damn good. They bring back his faith in humanity, just a little.
