Ottima 1 di 3. La terza è in corso, leggere la seconda solo quando finisce tutto. L’autore la tira un po’ per le lunghe ma è bella. Crowley è una exprostituta che fa il giardiniere, ora è squattrinato ed è pieno di complessi. Pensa di non essere nulla, di non valere niente e tira a campare, sembra che questa distruzione della sua sicurezza derivi dal suo Ex Lucius Morningstar (psicologo), che lo ha rimodellato come voleva. Trova lavoro come giardiniere per un prete cattolico di cui subito si innamora. La storia è piena dell’alternanza di prospettive tra i due. Aziraphale alla stessa maniera si innamora del giardiniere, lo trova gentile e attraente, ma sa che il suo ruolo gli imporrebbe il celibato. Durante la storia si scopre che 11 anni prima era sposato con Seb, che è morto in un incidente in taxi perché Aziraphale oberato di lavoro si era addormentato e non era andato a premderlo all’università. Da allora i sensi di colpa lo divorano, pensa che tutto quello che tocchi verrà distrutto e ha un’insonnia cronica. La loro attrazione però è fortissima ed escono un paio di volte, è tutto un gioco di sguardi, flirt e tocchi accennati, ma mai baci o altro. Entrambi parlano con una voce interiore che gli dice di lasciar stare e un paio di volte entrambi hanno avuto una crisi di panico. Alla fine quando Crowley è venuto in chiesa i primi di dicembre per appendere le decorazioni floreali natalizie, Aziraphale aveva deciso di dirgli che non potevano andare oltre, non ce la fa e bevono una bottiglia di vino. Si ubriacano e giocano nel comfessionale a ruoli invertiti, lì il biondo non resiste e confessa davvero che lo adora più di Dio, che si è fatto prete per espiare a una cosa che ha fatto e che non riesce a resistergli. Piange disperato e Crowley corre da lui e gli si siede cavalcioni per abbracciarlo. Si baciano per la prima volta e si strusciano fino a venire.
