Worse, he wasn’t expecting that to have a good side, but it did: by fake-dating Bruce Wayne, both Clark Kent and Batman can get faster to the goal they had been pursuing.
Clark could only pray that would make this pretended relationtionship with his ex friend easier.

Edward takes on the challenge and it somehow turns into a Halloween date.
There’s a major issue though. And why is Edward so insistent on not touching Jon?
