Yes, Tim tried, but he couldn’t magically learn how to cook, and most states don't let minors pay heating bills. With his inability to perform adult jobs, the home became his crypt, cold and lacking the warmth of other living people. Tim didn’t even know how to discuss these issues properly; he’d never had anyone to verbalize these issues to before. Well, without the fear of punishment stopping him. He just knew he couldn’t stay there anymore. That house was going to kill him, and Tim didn’t wanna die."

"I am an al Ghul, we just know." Bruce's ten year old son said and Bruce stared helplessly at Alfred. The butler hadn't stopped his movement once, still busying himself with dusting the dining room. He was on his own.
"And who do you think your beloved is?"
“Timothy Jackson Drake. I believe you know his mother?"
"Hn" he replied. He didn't like Janet Drake, per se, but Timmy did seem like a lovely young boy. He supposed the boy had a pretty face.

Damian looks miserable. Not in a 'Oh no, I’m going to die!' way but more in a 'this is the most boring experience of my life' way that has you snorting. When Damian’s dropped from the roof, his hands and feet tied together, you swoop in easily. Stephanie and Cassandra trained you for this moment. You make sure the momentums right and your arms are open just enough to latch onto him
“Birdy.” You greet Damian the moment he’s in your arms, who glares at you. “Seems like you’ve got yourself in a bit of trouble there.” You tease when you land on the roof of a building further away from the one he was dropped off of to avoid getting shot.
“Undo these.” He gestures to his hands and feet, not feeding into your banter in his typical Damian Wayne style.

It’s been two months since Bruce has allowed Tim to go out as Robin, and every night Bruce patrols the city alone. Gotham’s shadowy knight is stalking the streets for a vigilante that seems to forethink his every move, and at the same time, dead ends; false trails; and strange, macabre clues haunt both the Batman and Bruce Wayne.
Meanwhile, Tim drinks stupid protein shakes made with milk from Wisconsin cows and fails online Precalculus. They are, Tim thinks bitterly, right back where they started.
(But there is a difference between waiting and biding your time.)

The next part was faster than he expected, Bruce taking a step forward only to be met with the red clad child barreling towards him with a- a taser of all things shouting a brave, “Go Tim!”, before his little device tried in vain to pierce through Bruce's kevlar with its electrical currents.
Tim did not “go” anywhere. The child raised a starstruck hand, weakly pointing to the Dark Knight with a faintly whispered, “That's a Batman.”, passing his lips.

Tim knew he couldn't be wrong.
It was so obvious when you looked for it. The ages of the Robins even matched up. Not to mention, how much sense it would make for Bruce going to be Batman. How else would he fund all his equipment? Why else would he take random breaks from work every once in a while that happened to coincide with major injuries the Bat received?
It was like he had been enlightened.
Being the ten-year-old kid that he was, unsupervised and skipping school as usual–it's not like they could teach him anything he didn't already know, and it was a pain to skip grades with the in-person parent meeting required–he immediately turned on his laptop and combed through forums to see if anyone had come to the same conclusion as he did. He was a ten year old kid, for crying out loud. Surely someone else connected the dots?
He opened up Reddit and searched 'Bruce Wayne is actually Batman.'
Tim stumbles upon one of Bruce's troll posts and gets an aneurysm.
