“Alhaitham,” Kaveh demanded. “Where in the world are we?”
Alhaitham stepped forward and looked down a hallway to their right, one that disappeared behind three separate corners before vanishing from sight. He looked down a hallway to his left, where the room opened up into a larger space, but had a tall red hexagonal sign with the word ‘STOP’ written in white standing in the center. And just behind them, a large pile of random furniture stacked in a bizarre, clustered way. Even from their limited perspective, each direction seemed to branch and rebranch into an incomprehensible labyrinth. Yellow. It was yellow yellow yellow all around.
“I have no idea.”
Kaveh felt his stomach drop. That was perhaps the single most alarming answer Alhaitham could have given.

She, with great care to not crease the fabric, plucked the veil from the dresser and nodded her head to the space in front of her, signaling the puppet to come. It did, and when it stopped Ei gently placed the adornment on top of it's head, smoothing out all the wrinkles. It fell over a stream of indigo and cascaded gracefully down to the back of the knees, just past the end of it's robes. If it were just a few shades darker it would've blended completely into it's hair, giving the illusion of it being thrice as long as it now was.
The golden plume shone against the rest of it's clothing, almost flaunting itself. For the briefest moment, Makoto was standing right in front of her, and she couldn't help herself.
"You look beautiful."
As much as she wishes she did, Ei didn't miss the puppet's lips twitch into a smile.

Summary
Aether was confused. It felt like his world was engulfed in a neverending nightmare. Everything felt wrong, terrifying, and lonely. The tears had stopped falling, but his vision never got better after he watched his other half disappear through that portal. Without her Aether felt like he was cracking, unravelling, and even if he tried to rebuild and restring himself a hundred times over it would never be enough. All he wanted was to run until his feet bled and his lungs tore open; leave his rotting body for mother nature to take somewhere even the Abyss wouldn't reach him. But fate had other plans.
Who knew fate had a jade spear?

It's often Kaeya who always wishes to take back time and live as if nothing happened and the future was nothing but a gory nightmare. But as time passed by, he lost his hope and desire to fix everything, he finally faced the cruel truth that nothing will change and he's stuck forever. There was one way to end the suffering.
And Diluc really, really didn't like this decision of his.
Only if he wasn't so blind and cold against his younger brother, only if he showed he really cared about him. Maybe the result would be different.
He wishes to take back the time too.

While trying to find their way back home, the portal hallway takes Jesse and his friends to a cold, snowy world they are definitely not adequately dressed for. In which Jesse and Lukas pine for each other while trying to survive frostbite and hypothermia.
Inspired by that one scene where the gang exits another portal and Ivor nails Petra in the head with a snowball. It's... mostly an excuse to write Jesskas in the snow :P
