Really, Diluc looks so similar to his old friend that Venti can't help but want to visit. It's been a while since a descendant has been reminiscently familiar in both appearance and attitudes. One visit turns into two, two into three, and before he knows it - Venti's attached.
And so is Diluc.

Summary
No matter what Venti says, he and Diluc are not “partners in crime,” “accomplices,” “protectors of Mondstadt from the shadows,” or whatever ridiculous nickname that bard came up with. Ever since the Dvalin Incident, as Venti refers to it, it’s true that Diluc has been marginally less likely to dump Venti out on street the second it’s time to close the bar, but they most definitely aren’t working together.
Except for that one time he bribed Venti with a bottle of wine to figure out who kept breaking the tavern’s windows. And that time when he swapped a free drink for information on the Fatui’s comings and goings at the Goth Grand. And maybe, once, when he offered a bottle of (alcoholic) cider for some snooping on the Knights. . .
Okay, maybe they are kind of working together. Sometimes. Reluctantly. But that doesn’t make them friends, and it most certainly does not entitle that little green gremlin to the contents of the Dawn Winery’s storehouses.

Venti does not know his exact birthday. At the time of his creation, a little wind sprite in a world both bigger than he could comprehend and smaller than he ever expected, the modern calendar had not existed and would not for a long time to come.
It is only after meeting his oldest and dearest friend that he begins to fully understand the concept of mortal time. Or more specifically, how short it is.
(He didn’t know yet just how intimately he would become acquainted with the shortness of human life. Right now, he is still a wind sprite listening to a boy’s dreams of a clear sky and the birds that float so effortlessly in it. He can’t possibly fathom what comes next.)

Summary
Diluc had never considered himself much of a religious man, even before finding out the Anemo archon was in fact an alcoholic bard.
His father hadn’t been all that religious either, and while he’d educated Diluc on the topic to ensure he’d be able to make his own choices, the idea of worshipping some grand being had just never appealed all that much.
Which might beg the question as to what Diluc was doing in the hands of the Anemo archon statue at this late hour.
A sleepless night perhaps, filled with nightmares during the brief moments he found himself closing his eyes. It wouldn’t be the first, and it most certainly wouldn’t be the last.
There was definitely some truth to it, but it was more likely Diluc would have just thrown himself at his paperwork and called it a night if that were the case.
The real reason he found himself standing atop the statue, was the fact that it was his birthday tomorrow.

Or: Venti is a better archon and friend than Diluc usually gives him credit for, and he appreciates it.

Humans are the intergalactic boogeyman. With their poison-drinking, hysterical strength, obscene bone density, and ability to ignore pain, it's not hard to see why. Of course, that also makes them the ideal captives for fighting rings.
Virgil is one of these. Of course, he'd never fight willingly, but the immense desire to not die tends to loosen one's morals. Murderous non-sapient alien predators don't really give him a choice, after all. However, he has more than enough morals to put his foot down when a very much sapient and harmless opponent is thrown into his ring.

Paimon recites, bobbing her head as she counts something on her fingers. "But then, something bad happens to the fallen star. And the bard becomes very sad. So, now he sings a song for the fallen star every night, wherever he is."
The memories that the frown on Aether's face brings are unpleasant, but Venti smiles nonetheless.
"That's a nice story," he says, cocking his head to the side. "Let me guess: you heard it from Mondstadt's very own Spark Knight? It's a very popular story with the children."
"Well, yeah, you're right about that," the floating pixie concedes. The lines of her mouth form a scowl as she crosses her arms over her chest. "But that's not the point! Did you know that the bard in this story is said to be Barbatos?"
When Lumine and Aether crash land in Mondstat, Venti is the first person to see them. Before they're separated, Venti is the last person to see them.

By the end of their journey’s it was known through out Teyvat the twins were world travelers. It was up to the person receiving the knowledge to interpret it. Most interpreted it as them being to all eight nations (As Khaenri’ah had recently resurfaced and is being re-established). However, those who know the twins know it means they have traversed literal worlds, and of those worlds they favour Teyvat. Archons are grateful and feel blessed with that information.
