“B, didn’t you promise us as you’d tell if there was a possibility of another secret child?” Tim asks as he stares at the black haired boy, who looks like he had been to hell and back to get here, with blue eyes — because of course, they are blue — in front of the Manor’s door.
He can’t help but feel unnerved by the way the boy evaded their security measures and how he hasn’t said a single word since Tim opened the door even when he can see the boy’s hands tremble.
“Yes?” Bruce's voice floats from further in the Manor, his barely audible gaunt drawing near.
“Then who the hell is this?” he asks just as the man turns the corner. He freezes at the sight of the kid, literally blue screening as he takes him in.
“Actually he’s mine,” a too chipper voice announces and Tim nearly jumps out of skin as he turns to Dick.

“Don’t you ever wonder about the lives you could have had?” Clockwork asks one evening after Danny returns from one of his time related tasks. One of these days he’s gonna hand the Flashes a check asking for a hefty sum to compensate for all the stress he had because of them.
Danny knits his eyebrows together as he crosses his arms.
“Is this about Dan?”
Clockwork shakes his head and swipes through the air, hundreds if not billions of images following him. They blur together, not making it possible to discern what is on them.
“I mean the life you could have had if you never died,” he starts and despite the fact that Danny doesn’t need to breathe in his Ghost Form his breath gets stuck in his throat. “If you made different choices.”

He moves to stand but before he can Damian catches his wrist. Danny freezes, but the boy still doesn’t look him in the eyes as he obviously tries to collect himself.
“Aren’t you angry?” Damian questions. “At what Mother and Grandfather did? At me?”
“I’m angry about a lot of things,” Danny says, keeping his voice calm. “You’ll have to specify on what.”
Damian frowns, dropping his wrist as he pulls his legs even closer.
“I should have never existed,” he says, voice monotone. “How can I call myself the heir of Father’s mantle, when, if it weren’t for Grandfather’s meddling, I would have never been created?”

As young adults, they run into him in Gotham, of all places. It's a stroke of luck that brings their best friend back to them.
If only it was that easy for the Bats to find the god damn engineer that's been running circles around them while they try to track him down.

But it's a familiar charade— Scar slips into the back with a single sunflower clenched tight in his palm, bruising the petals and scratching against the insides of his fingers.
When Scar steps back out to the front, a ghost is waiting patiently for him at the counter.
