He thought it a cruel joke that his core – his heart and reason for his persecution – was a gem famed for its rich blue hue. No, Elazul much preferred the color green. It reminded him of spring, when the flowers were in bloom, and the Sproutlings with their odd words.
But most of all, they reminded him of her, and her eyes, and her smile.
