If time is running out as quickly as L believes it is, he will conserve all the will he has left. Will dismiss every memory of kindness, sweetness, fun, hatred, and disgust.
Light leans in a few inches, and L raises an eyebrow, glaring at him and wanting badly to kick him away.
“L,” he rustles, and it’s autumn leaves on the London streets, hot chocolate at Wammy’s, too many fond memories to count. “I want to take you somewhere.”
L half-asks, “Is that so."

He is sitting at his desk in his office, which is also Mello’s office, because they share one, now. Mello is under two meters away from him, sitting at his own desk and glaring at his backlit monitor like he wants to kill it.
This has been their status quo for about seven months. Near knows the exact figure— two-hundred days— but he usually avoids acknowledging that he knows it, even in his own mind. Having this information on hand feels slightly illicit, because he knows the only reason he recalls the duration of their professional partnership with this degree of precision is because of what happened immediately before it began.

Summary
When Near was thirteen, or perhaps even younger, she had (for the most part) broken out of the programming that Wammy's had worked to instill in their pupils from a young age. The Bible was strict and contradictory, it meant little to her besides the constant pressure and fear mongering.
Mello, on the other hand, was as devout as one could be. It was ironic, honestly. Near would be the model Christian if she was a believer. Mello, on the other hand, could practically be the poster child of sin.

Jotaro Kujo was a busy man.
Too busy for the weekly visits to the pub in Morioh that his thesis advisor invited him to every week. He was too busy for sex, if the lonely nights shared with his right hand were any indication. Therefore, he was way too busy for love, let alone marriage, hence why the first one didn’t work out so well.
But holy shit, what he really didn’t have time for was a parent-teacher conference for a kid that wasn’t even his.
(Especially when Josuke's teacher is a godsend example of sex on legs...good grief).
