‘Mira’ is the incredibly tall alien rock with a carapace made out of rainbow lattice sunstone, is vaguely shaped like a crab-spider, five legs and all, and she hates Rumi more than Rumi could possibly fathom. She had drifted aimlessly in space for days before she was approached by the Blip-A—Mira’s ship—and was effectively taken hostage within her own ship.

Growing up with a healthy respect for the sea and sailing in general it's really no wonder she ended up so determined to be a shipwright. Even if her overprotective family never let her work on a ship that wasn't dry docked in the harbor she remained stubborn and steadfast that this would be her profession of choice. So when she finally got the chance to work on a ship at sea she was ecstatic... and even when that chance was just a cake job where she was barely needed she remained optimistic.
Until a cursed ship of murderous pirates truly put that determination and optimism to the test, along with all of Rumi's shipwright skills.

Mira didn’t answer, not with words. Her hand drifted toward Rumi, fingertips brushing over the singer’s arm, her collarbone, tracing lazy lines that made Rumi’s breath hitch.
Zoey’s mouth went dry. The room felt warmer now, the air too thick to breathe.
Rumi closed her eyes, a playful smile ghosting across her lips. There was something in the way she leaned back, trusting, expectant, that made Zoey’s chest tighten. She wasn’t sure she could leave if they kept going.
“You were so good in the crowd,” Mira murmured, her eyes finding Zoey’s, holding them. “You gave us so much energy.” Her hand kept moving, deliberate. “Would you like to watch another performance?”
