Summary
There is a big difference between a trans man exploring his identity/sexuality through fanfiction, and a cis writer misrepresenting what it means to be FTM. If you're a cis writer with the best of intentions, I hope these guidelines and resources will assist you in improving your treatment of trans men.
Chapter 1: Writing Guide, FTM Anatomy.
Chapter 2: Gallery of Trans Men.
Chapter 3: FTM Media Recommendations.
Chapter 4: Racism in Trans Headcanons. This guide was originally posted on my old account, which has since been deleted due to transphobic comments, including threats of violence. I have posted it again anyway, because I take this matter very seriously. Do not repost, copy, or in any way plagiarise this guide. But please feel free to share a link to it, so that cis authors can improve the way that they depict trans men. I have tagged characters which are discussed in the guide, and are therefore relevant. If you encounter this guide while browsing those tags, that's why.

Summary
The spell seemed to break the Narrator out of his silence, though. “There it is again. The coughing. Totally unnatural in this setting, Stanley. There’s not even enough dust to irritate the average human lung – I needn’t check, I just know. Stanley, you can’t actually be...” Stanley heard a great deal of shuffling, like gathering papers and flipping through them furiously. The Narrator sounded odd. His voice was cresting near something, but Stanley couldn’t focus on it long enough to understand what.
“Sick? You can’t be sick, Stanley. It’s not possible. You can’t eat. You-you can’t excrete. You can’t get tired. This is how it’s been – how it’s always been.”
--
The Narrator and Stanley have a row. Emotions are high. Perhaps someone dies in the shuffle, but it's not as though that matters. That's the purpose of resets, after all. They erase all damage ever made.
Until they don't.
Stanley gets sick. This is not something the Narrator is equipped to handle.

Summary
The Narrator wanted to show Stanley how much he cared for him. So one day, the Narrator decided to set Stanley free, to live his life outside of the Parable, like a real person.
Unfortunately, beings of fiction are ill-suited for reality. Reality is bending and twisting around Stanley, and he needs to return to the Parable. Immediately.
(A story about reality and unreality. A story about fictional characters and narrators. A story about what it means to exist, and what it means to not exist.)

Summary
A Stanley sits in the skip button room, listening to The Narrator repeat himself forever, knowing that time is not actually passing as he waits. He knows that there isn't a way to move forward without pushing that button, but he has committed himself to never going through with it, knowing that there isn't an escape, that there isn't a way to get The Narrator through the skip button ending without doing him harm. Left with no other options, Stanley looks inward in the hopes of creating his own solution.

Summary
There are so many different perspectives, when it comes to story-telling. First Person is a common one, as well as Third Person. But looking outside the lens of writing and more into the lens of telling, you can tell a story you experienced yourself... or one that others experienced, through your eyes. Those who didn't get all the details, who don't know every aspect, but still form an opinion and ideas of what's going on. It's how we perceive reality and others.
OR
Stanley and the Narrator's love story as told by five different people at five different points in time, and then the one time when they tell it themselves.
this fic will take a while to update btw!!

Summary
And for one wonderful, terrible moment, Stanley does not recognize it. It looks small in the sand. It wears a pair of cracked glasses, silver hair, and a riot of mushrooms crawling up its neck.
In which the Narrator dies in the aftermath of the Skip Button Ending, and Stanley doesn't. And then the Narrator lives, piercingly, desperately, and Stanley lives with him.

No matter how dull, a familiar routine was still a familiar routine. And waking up without the ever-present Narrator was certainly unfamiliar and out of routine for Stanley. slight Stanley/Narrator

Summary
A few months after Stanley and the Narrator have escaped the Parable, someone from Stanley's past comes bursting into their new life. Struggling to bear the weight of his newly-rediscovered family's expectations while keeping the Parable and the Narrator's true nature a secret, Stanley questions whether he wants to repair the ties to his past at all.
To make matters worse, the Narrator is taken and put back in into the Parable alone. While attempting to rescue him, Stanley finds answers he wishes he didn't and ends up faced with one last terrible choice...

Summary
Stanley finds echo of himself known as the Narrator, and tears him from the fabric of the parable. As reluctant as the Narrator is to leave his life’s work, he follows Stanley to the escape pod and into the real world.
Back in reality, Stanley decides it's time to shape his own story. At least, he hopes he's the one making it. Comforting lies soon become full-blown denial, as Stanley tries to imagine a life without the parable. The Narrator didn't mean to go off-script, but that is the nature of their balance.
Questions go unanswered. Endings get messy. Fortunately, both Stanley and the Narrator learn that perfection is overrated.
My take on an "escaping the parable" story.

When the Player happens to close the game in the middle of the Not Stanley Ending, the Narrator finds himself with a confused Stanley and a story to get back on track.
Of course, his silent protagonist can't seem to muster up the words to do his part, so it's time to improvise...- Language:

Authors regret nothing, read at your own risk
‘You’ll stay with me, right? You won’t leave?’ Stanley said urgently, his eyes pleading with The Narrator’s. Something in The Narrator shattered at that look.
“Of course my love” he replied, smoothing back a stray part of Stanley’s hair, “I promise I’ll never leave you”.
