Jesus still held him tight, as he repeated the same words again and again: “Don’t let me go… please don’t let me go…”, like a wounded animal seeking mercy from a stranger, who could heal its wounds, and nurse it back to health.

The Battle of Starcourt is fought on the Fourth of July, but it's another eight months before Chrissy Cunningham dies in Eddie Munson's trailer on March 21st.
260 days. 6,240 hours. 374,400 minutes.
There's stuff in-between, good and bad. People move away, people pull away, and people try to hold it all together. We know they'll make it to spring break, come hell or high water, only to do it all over again. In the meantime, though, they're just a family, bound together since this shit began in '83, trying to make it work.

A shadow falls over her.
Erica sits up.
Eddie’s standing there with his hands on his hips. He’s wearing the bullet belt, the metal glinting in the sun.
“Whaddya think?” he says.
Before she can reply, he actually does a full-blown twirl, and it’s maybe one of the most embarrassing things she’s ever seen—which is definitely saying something.
She can’t help the fond smile from breaking out as she rolls her eyes. “Well, at least you’re dressed for the part.”
“Coming from you, Lady Applejack, that’s the highest of compliments.”
Eddie flops down next to her. He leans across and picks up something: her spear. She’d actually forgotten about it, just for a moment.
“Not quite a kukri, huh?”
It’s meant to be a joke, Erica can tell—but she can still hear the tension in his voice.

Summary
He's staring at the crumbling, scorched remains of Starcourt Mall from the parking lot, where the lights from police cars and ambulances bathe it in flashes of blue and red. It's chaotic, but Lucas has kept an eye out for everyone, though, run through his mental list multiple times as he looks across throngs of emergency workers and government agents to find everyone who matters. He crosses their names off as he goes until he gets down to just one, so he knows who the footsteps belong to before the person even comes within his peripheral vision.
“I just— I wanted to say I’m sorry,” Dustin said, kicking at gravel and ash. “For bringing Erica into this.”
