When Balinor found out that Uther was going to send Knight's to Ealdor, looking for him. He asked an old friend to look after Hudith until the coast was clear. Galahad did so without hesitation. But then he found out Hudith was pregnant and then some druids told them vaguely of some destiny that the child had.
All Galahad knew was that Merlyn needed more protection from Uther and so he claimed her as his flesh and blood. Balinor was still of nobleblood and it was the least he could do. He just didn't expect to get so attached.
Now follow Merlyn's story where she had a little more training and a little more of a moral guidance from an early age and moving to camelot at a slightly earlier age.

You’re holding hostage a political nightmare! “I need a mate that’s so good in bed I shouldn’t be able to walk for days afterward! So good I shouldn’t be able to speak properly when they’re done with me!” Wei Ying crowed loudly, practically singing out all the things his poor virgin brain had fantasized about. He saw one older woman in the crowd swoon in shock. He grinned. “If my mate isn’t good in bed then what’s the point!? I’m a crow so I’ll be stuck in my nest forever until our babies are hatched, I’d die of boredom if the sex was bad! I’d fall asleep halfway through!” He whined loudly.
Wei Ying had been so caught up in the crowd’s reaction that he missed the way Lan Wangji’s golden gaze grew more and more heated with every word.

Summary
Wei Wuxian stared openly at the man sitting across from him, unable to look away from the strange picture he made.
He wore common clothes and had his hair up in a simple bun, his expression was contained, but soft as he looked at the baby held in his lap. Though nothing about the way he presented himself was outwardly remarkable, his mannerisms gave him a distinguished air. There was a gracefulness to him, the type that hid strength behind it.
And he was beautiful. Even missing his usual mourning white and forehead ribbon there was no way Wei Wuxian would have mistaken him for anyone else.
Still, the Lan Wangji with him right now might as well be a different person from the one he knew. He was still as stoic and silent as ever, but there was a warmth in him that he’d never seen before.
Or: Wei Wuxian’s life takes a turn for the unexpected when he’s approached by Lan Wangji on his way back from a night hunt.
