Summary
This is the original version of The Hero in Monochrome. Archived in the state it was in during July 15th 2026. This specific version is unfinished and the last two chapters are updates and explanations on the state of this fic. The rewritten version will be the next work in the Chronology of Shadows series, under the title "The Hero in Monochrome". For more specific information, please see the last 2 update chapters!
Original summary:
An unwilling pawn of Ganondorf awakens with a singular goal: stop the hero of prophecy. As he comes face to face with said hero, Link, his turbulent emotions and overthinking mind lead him to defying that singular goal. His new mission: exact revenge on his creator. Make him regret sealing him in a torturous curse.
Link and the so-called dark Link are quickly bonded, but it all threatens to unravel just as fast. Be that by the hands of fate, or due to scars that each has suffered. As lofty concepts like prophecy, fate, and the gods become all too real, the smaller moments seem to matter all that much more.
Will this legend manage to reach a blissful ending, or will all crumble to chaos, as it has once before?

Summary
Meditating on the concept of an immortal Zelda, a potential end of the downfall timeline, and what part those and the Triforce could play in creating all these alternative timelines we have currently.
Wrote this to sharpen up my editing skills, with the goal to keep it exactly 333 words, because of the triforce significance. Ended up with something I personally think is quite evocative.

This work is canon to my Chronology of Shadows series, but is very much a stand-alone thing. Quite different from everything else I have in the series. Not required reading for the other works, nor are the other works required for this work. Throwing this at the beginning of the series, mostly as a mood setter.

Summary
Malon is sat in the ranch house, mending some clothes late in the evening. Her mind wandering, she can't help but reminisce on things from her childhood, from the now, and from the time the ranch was rescued. When a knock sounds from her front door and one of the very heroes from the rescue is there to greet her, she can't help but cling to every opportunity to keep the sheikah she has fallen for around. What follows is an evening filled with tea, discussions of books and a new-found bond. Will it promise to hold fast, or will it be just as fleeting as midnight?

This is a side story for The Hero in Monochrome, set concurrent with chapter 11. This fic also very much functions as a stand-alone work, however, and doesn't really spoil anything major for THiM. Reading just this, or just THiM is perfectly fine, they just each add a bit of context to one another, that may enhance your over all reading experience.

Plagued by unnerving dreams and visions, bothered by the strange locals and growing ever more obsessed with the sea, the island itself begins to warp and corrupt. But that’s surely all just in Grian’s mind, right?

Summary
Somewhere in the muddled annals of Hyrule's history, there exists an anomaly. It is a branch in the timeline, not so different from the uncountable others it coexists with. After all, Hyrule itself, its being irrevocably fractured and existence endlessly rewritten, is something of an anomaly. Yet this branch, its presence interwoven with shadows, has for some reason drawn the attention of the gods more than most others. Here within lie tales told from said timeline, both large and mundane.

Summary
Joe preferred to remove his coat before he slipped off his shoes—shoes that aren't custom tailored like every other professor at Oxford, shoes that never shine because he favored reading his books rather than engaging in tedious activities. It was the reason his curls were often skewed and in need of a trim. If anything, Rhys quite liked it;
He liked knowing all these minuscule details about Joe, from his schedule to his less than stellar childhood that sorely lacked in any kind figure. It's perfect though, because it'll make it much easier for him to coerce Joe to accept his true nature, the path of righteousness to murder. Because Joe will one day be his, and tonight is as good as any for Rhys to use his key, to slip in and make his presence known.

Summary
Grian had been running for what felt like hours, gliding through the deep void in an attempt to escape the Watchers.
After finally finding a server to hide in he quickly realises that it was, in fact, not abandoned as he had assumed.When Xisuma went to check the new Hermitcraft Server he saw an intruder hack into it - quite literally.
Though it quickly turns out that the intruder was more a fugitive, running away from the very monsters the admin hated with his entire being.Walking a thin line between truth and lie Grian tries his best to cling to the new safe haven to heal up and hide from his captors, making more connections than he had preferred.

Watchers were supposed to be worshipped. It’s their source of powers as minor deities, after all.
Grian, who wanted nothing more than to forget his Watcher past, was quite happy not to be worshipped at all. So when the Hermits collectively started praying to Xelqua and Grian started to gain a lot of Watcher magic, it put a real damper on his mood, health, self-perception and his relationships. With Mumbo gone off-world, it was now up to Scar, Pearl and Xisuma to worry about him – if Grian would let them. But Grian was nothing if not stubborn. He’d get through this alone, right?

All of the stars and the inky black were gone, and all that was left was Scar's huge hands gripping him close and his leg between Scar's thighs and his nose pressed into Scar's shoulder. All of him surrounded by all of that, and the unfortunate feeling that he'd never been so fucking close to something he wanted while also nowhere near it.
The grip on him was tight, and Grian whispered, "Let me go."
