Summary
The summer before sixth year Draco does not take the dark mark, The Dark Lord has a different punishment in mind for Lucius' failings.
Going back to Hogwarts this year is different, more tense for a plethora of reasons. With orders he doesn't want to follow, his mother essentially captive in their home, and his new furry problem; Draco really doesn't have the time or patience for Potter's obsession with him this year, even if he does sort of like when those green eyes are focused on him.

Draco Malfoy was not the child Lucius and Narcissa expected. He was rather quiet, and kept to himself. He would rather read for hours on end, than attend the luxurious Galas his parents hosted, even if not by his choice. Due to his unintended (and intended) isolation, Draco began to find the entire notion of 'Blood-Purity' to be absurd. Father was not pleased in the slightest.
Upon his parents decision to discourage his newfound beliefs, his took his future, and education, into his own hands.

Professor Malfoy is the Defense teacher at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. His neutral expression tries to hide a gentle voice and small smile when a student has done a job well done. His students seek that particular smile as they do their best in his class.
Professor Malfoy is surprisingly beloved by his students and he, thought he may deny it, has a pride for them.
"Teddy sat at a desk like the rest of the students, and they all nervously waited for him to speak. "Good morning, I'll take class attendance, and then we can begin," he said. Teddy perked a little; his voice was gentle even though he didn't smile. He wasn't scowling either, though."

Begins in the fourth book, when Octavia Malfoy is starting her first year at Hogwarts. Suffice it to say, shit happens. Like, a lot. You’ve read the book or seen the movie, you know what goes down in the fourth book, but this time it’s told from Draco and Octavia’s perspective.
(Btw slytherin isn’t an evil house have u forgotten ambition and leadership and the fantastic insults they can think of smh and they definitely have muggleborns are you kidding slytherin is such a good house and jk Rowling just crapped all over it like she did her legacy)
(Also this isn’t a self insert or y/n type of deal, and the POVs aren’t in first person perspective, just closer to each character and their thoughts)The first chapter can be read as a one shot.

Draco Malfoy fled for many reasons. One, he didn't want the dark mark (he wasn't too into tattoos. Wasn't his aesthetic). Two, he wasn't too fond of torturing and murdering people (now, sassing people and hurting them with harsh words— that was his forte). Three, the Dark Lord was a creep (he's way too pervy! Plus, he's old and looks like a lizard. Gross).
Fourth, and the most important reason, Draco Malfoy fled because he wanted to get his one-year-old sister as far away from the Dark Lord and his Death Eaters as possible.
