In this place on the other side of reality, Tony learns everything begins with falling– falling through space, through time, falling in love, and falling onto his knees.
*****“Holy hell, you’re about the prettiest sub I’ve ever seen.” Bucky whispered and Steve rumbled in agreement. “Just gorgeous, sweet thing. Look how soft you are for Stevie, I love that. Good boy, you’re doing wonderful.”
The praise was balm to Tony’s battered heart, and his last thought before letting go was about heaven, about soft lights and quiet music and strong arms.
Heaven, because his brain could snap into gear later and he could make up for lost time then.
Heaven, because lips brushed over his temple and a deep voice crooned, “You’re such a good sub, sweetheart.” and it was the best thing Tony had ever heard in his life.

Tony owns ‘Sweet Peach’ bakery and spends his day making sugary sweets in leggings and frilly aprons. He doesn’t want to date, but he’s more than ready to take Stucky out for some sexy times if they want to get a peek at HIS sweet peach.
Stucky is understandably smitten and being real ridiculous about it, tripping over their words, their feet and each other trying to get the adorable baker out of the kitchen and into their arms.
Sam and Natasha judge their dumbass friends who are well on their way to going broke buying cupcakes just so they have an excuse to see Tony all the time, and make bets as to whether or not they can get a peek at Tony’s sweet peach first.
Clint is just glad to be friends with people who always have cake.

Natasha and Steve go to couple’s therapy. There are a few complications. Their counseling clinic is a front for a Hydra cell that’s seized northern Manhattan. More importantly, they’re definitely not dating.
Also, Steve may or may not be in love with Natasha.

“I resent being compared to Peggy Carter,” Nat tells their therapist. “Yes, Steve— I assassinated a few people and committed every war crime in the book. That doesn’t make me a bad person.”
Steve knows this is all scripted, but he finds himself getting angry for no logical reason.
“I don’t think you’re a bad person.” His voice rises. “If I did, I wouldn’t be dating you. This isn’t about Peggy."
“It’s always about Peggy.” Nat flips her gaze to the therapist. “He says her name in bed sometimes."
Steve’s hands clench into fists. She’s going off script, damn it, and now he has to go off script, too.
“Nat cheated on me with Tony and Thor,” he improvises. “That’s what she was doing while I was checking my pal Bucky into a rehabilitation clinic. She's emotionally distant.”
“Once again, Mr. Rogers.” The therapist sounds tired. “Let's try our best to keep this constructive.”

“Thank you. You're wonderful.” He says, and he means it. Tony looks away, hands drumming along the lab table nervously. Steve stares at his hands, and suddenly everything makes perfect sense. It's a nervous gesture so like Iron Man's that first day Steve woke up in this strange new world. An empty suit. Bruises with an explanation that just seems phoned in. Tony exhausted and aching but still working, funding the Avengers through his own pockets. Tony keeping untold secrets close, brown eyes wide and filled with something unspeakable in the hallway, leaning away from Steve's arms instead of into them. If it's true then Steve's in even more trouble than he already thought he was.
Dangerous does not even begin to describe Tony Stark. He thinks, even in his own mind he sounds resigned.
In which the world at large does not know Tony Stark is Iron Man, and Steve falls for him harder than a bag of bricks anyway.
