Summary
Jayce Talis, 34, poster child professor at Piltover Academy, and adviser to the mighty Council, is going through a short - but highly potent - dry spell. He has an itch he needs to scratch, but due to his face being plastered all over Piltover, he can't casually hook-up with anyone without the whole city knowing.
In order to get around this annoying issue, Jayce opts to venture down into Zaun, specifically to the pub known as The Last Drop, an establishment he has been to once or twice before.
Upon entering the pub, he orders a drink, and wonders how long this necessary task will take. It turns out not long at all, as reflected in the bar mirror is a golden-eyed twink that's just his type.
Get your coat, he thinks, you've pulled.

Summary
After Jayce's dorm is flooded, he is quickly moved to another. He ends up rooming with Viktor, a foreign exchange student who sparks a curiosity in Jayce that he'd never thought he would experience. His androgynous beauty and quick mind seem to run circles of confusion and awe inside Jayce's mind. Though not in any way against homosexuality, he shocks himself when parts of him start to reveal itself.
Viktor, coming from a country not accepting of queer people causes him to envelope himself in internalized homophobia and insecurity... but most of all worry when he meets his new roommate. Jayce was tall, strong, and kind in a way Viktor had never been at the receiving end of. He hopes that these warm feelings in his chest and heated thoughts in his head are just a side effect of being treated kindly for the first time in a while- but he knows better.

Viktor stopped walking and turned his head to look over his shoulder at Jayce. His pale eyes were glazed with sadness, deep unfathomable wells of grief as he whispered.
“Goodbye, Jayce.”
He was rooted to the spot with shock for a long moment as he watched Viktor move away from him. But then a desperate fire lit inside his heart, and he sprang forward towards Viktor’s retreating form, trembling hand outstretched towards him.
“No! Viktor, please!”
Jayce grabbed Viktor’s thin arm and pulled him around to face him as he cried.
“Don’t go! Don’t leave me alone.”
Viktor looked momentarily shocked by his outburst, but then his gaze hardened once more, and he pulled his arm from Jayce’s grip with surprising strength. His tone was harsh as he chided.
“Jayce…”
He was desperate to make Viktor understand how deeply he felt.
“I need you!”The scene when Viktor leaves Jayce after he wakes up from the Hex cocoon takes a different turn.

Summary
Staying in the lab gave Viktor far too much time to imagine what was going on outside of it. To imagine how Jayce spoke with people who weren’t his colleagues; with people who had no professional boundaries and perhaps too much to drink. People who could speak casually, flatter him, flirt with him—and that was all part of the deal. They had something Jayce needed, and he had no choice but to bite his tongue and endure their praise.
In a fit of jealousy, Viktor accidentally stumbles into an opportunity to tell Jayce what he really thinks.

Summary
Jayce looks at Viktor, taking in the indecisiveness on his face, the tightness in his shoulders, the haunted look in his eyes that never quite goes away anymore. And something inside him clicks into place.
It's not that Viktor doesn’t want him.
It’s that Viktor doesn’t trust himself to want.
"Is that what you need, Viktor?" Jayce asks, eyes softening. "For someone to take the choice away from you? Because I can do that for you, if you'll let me. I can take control from here on out and you'll never to worry about anything else. Would you like that?"
Viktor's eyes are wide, lips parted from where his mouth has fallen open slightly, and for a moment, he seems speechless, but then he nods, a small, barely perceptible shake of his head that reveals more than enough of his longing. "Please."
After waking up in an unfamiliar timeline, Jayce and Viktor find it all too easy to fall into bed together instead of talking about their feelings. This, naturally, leads to consequences neither are prepared for.
Like unwittingly falling into a dom/sub dynamic, for example.

Viktor isn't even sure if he can blame it on the alcohol when such a sobering sentence tumbles from his lips. "We could kiss."
Jayce whips his head towards him. "What?"
"We could kiss." He shrugs. "We both want to get it out of the way, and we trust each other. Saves us the trouble of finding out that we are bad kissers from a complete stranger—no harm done."
"No harm—" Jayce sighs. "Are you serious?"
"Yes."
Jayce and Viktor start college but are too afraid to hook up with anyone because they're virgins who haven't even had their first kiss.

Jayce waited, day after day, for something to change, for Viktor finally wake up. Sometimes his brain would trick him into thinking he could hear his partner’s voice, or the recognisable sound of his footsteps, but every time he spun around in his seat, he was greeted with the same image.
The Hexcore, transformed and surrounding Viktor, the only thing keeping the other man alive. The Hexcore, that Viktor had wanted him to destroy. A never ending reminder of Jayce’s guilt, of going against the wishes of the one person who meant everything to him.
