Summary
So there Joe he sits, awkward, masked, and noticeably childless in a brightly decorated paediatric ward's waiting room. He's not panicking, so he tells himself. But the longer he sits there, while in the background, children are screaming and chasing each other in the ward's playpen, the more anxious he gets. What if he's really sick? What if he's having an allergic reaction? What if–
A lollipop that appears out of nowhere in his vision derails his thought. He looks up to see a nurse in a baby blue scrub and a mask holding it.
"Helps to calm you down," he says. He's got a lilting accent and gorgeous green-grey eyes.
"That obvious, huh?"
The nurse's eyes crinkle. "You can't stop moving your legs," he says. "Waiting can be stressful, yes?"
He must have mistaken Joe for a parent waiting for news on his child or something.
"Yeah," Joe says, going along with it.
Or, Joe doesn't believe in the soulmate, soulmark and souldbond concept. And of course the universe conspires to show him otherwise.
Or, Joe thinks he must be in some twisted sort of a gay Cinderella story.

Summary
The whole thing seems too good to be true. At almost thirty, Nicky is long in the tooth for a sugar baby, and he hadn’t really expected to catch the attention of anyone who still had their hair, much less someone as young and handsome as Joe, who’s only three years older than him.
The sex is what concerns Nicky most, and he only has himself to blame. He hadn’t outright lied to Joe, but he’d certainly let the other man believe he had more experience outside exactly two mediocre one-night stands, when in reality, Nicky needed to Google most of the terms Joe was using.
Joe knew he was going to like Nicky—he was an attractive, pleasant person who had essentially agreed to let Joe pamper and fuck him any way he wanted, so it would be hard not to—but he hadn’t expected to like Nicky.
This could end badly for Joe, if he gets too attached, but right now he doesn’t care as long as it ends with Nicky in his bed.

Summary
Phil is tired. Phil is stupid. Or, he’s stupid because he’s tired, or he’s tired because he’s stupid, and he’s not really sure which one it is anymore.
He doesn’t remember anymore when he started counting small luxuries in terms of meals. The food bank has meat sometimes, but he can’t cook it, so he leaves it for the mothers at the food pantry that glare at him because he doesn’t look homeless, doesn’t look like someone who should be trespassing in their aisles filled with boxes of Kraft mac and cheese and chicken broth and if they’re lucky, a box or two of fancy risotto or rice pilaf. He doesn’t know how to tell them that they don’t look homeless either, that they look nice, and clean, and perfectly employable - just like he does.
The one where for once, Clint Barton gets to be the guardian angel.
