He can’t really explain to himself why he’s hesitating, but some part of him wants to see how far Max is willing to take this. It is the same part of him that didn’t understand breaking when he first started karting, only speed. The same part of him that has always found it almost impossible to back down from a challenge if it comes to Max, that has always wanted to push him back, that has made him never want to be the first one on the breaks when they battle on track.

III raised an eyebrow and tried not to look too smug about it. “At the end of the ritual at the altar, Sleep spoke to me. He told me I should reward you for how well you’ve been doing lately and how much he appreciated you, but he also told me I might want to take advantage of this little tidbit.”
Stage antics lead to Sleep spilling secrets. Sleep tasks III with showing IV how much he's appreciated. III and IV don't know how to not tease each other during sex.

Sejanus was like a planet orbiting around Coriolanus's star and that feeling was one he was loathe to give up.
Ultimately, the way Coriolanus's possessive tendencies end up keeping him from betraying the people he loves most.
