Summary
Skittery held the figure closer again, trying to ease his mind about any weirdness, and felt himself getting increasingly more tired. It was late, completely dark outside, and the others had probably eaten already or would soon. But he could just take a quick nap and get food later, that wouldn’t be a problem, surely.
His eyes drifted close, the nutcracker still lying beside his face where he’d looked at it closely and Skittery fell asleep to the crackling fire in just a few minutes.
The nutcracker opened his eyes truly – not just what was painted on him – and found himself next to the sleeping boy that had just repaired his arm, bowing out of thanks and respect to the kind boy before climbing down the couch by a loose string. He had somewhere to get to, urgently, to stop all this madness, especially since he could already hear them move closer, coming through the walls and ultimately from under the fireplace.
It would be worse with the injured arm, but he could still use his sword with the other just as well.
He got to the fireplace as the first rats ran in, fighting them back and already hearing the laughter of the rat king.

Summary
Seeing Spot Conlon of all people the second he opened the door to the interview regarding his newest retrieving job made Racetrack almost turn right around and show everyone the middle finger. Of course he had to be here, again, and this time not just at the end of his heist but right at the start. Why had the client even invited them both in at once? Making an interview like that didn’t sound like the most sound solution.
Still, because he had pride and additionally the job was promising more money than hist last ten combined, Race went in and pulled his chair farther away from Spot before sitting down.
“Good evening gentlemen, thank you for coming. My employer has heard about your fruitful endeavours and wants to hire you for a job of extreme importance.”, started the moustachioed man in front of them.
A 'simple' job, for bounty hunters like Spot and Race, if they would actually be able to work together instead of against each other.

“If you stare any longer, they’ll see.”, Sarah almost sang as they were waiting in the lobby of the cinema, Skittery blushing and laughing as Swifty hugged him from behind and kissed his head as they waited in line to get popcorn for all of them while Sarah and Bumlets looked after the drinks they already had and the tickets.
“Not like it would change much if they did.”
Sarah sighed and linked their arms. “Come on, stop being so down. I know it’s not because of the breakup, but they’ll think it is and comfort you. And then you’ll feel miserable because you feel like you’re using them or something.”
She might be correct with that analysis, but that didn’t mean Bumlets had to admit that. “They’re happy, it’s fine and they can do whatever they want.”
“But you wished you were doing it with them.”
This time he sighed, looking at Skittery holding Swifty’s hand as he paid for the snacks. “I do.”

Summary
A series set in a fantasy version of newsies, still circa 1899, in which they are all pirates and instead of in boroughs are now crews on the pirate ships.
Jack and the Manhattan Newsies of the 1992 movie are on his ship the 'Santa Fe', which will be the focus of the side stories, showing background and relationships the characters had over the years, as the oldest members of the crew have been sailing together for about ten years when "Toss a coin to your pirate" starts.Spot Conlon doesn't only have one ship but has spent the last years building an empire, both angry at the government and at other, curel pirates. The ship he's mainly on is 'The Brooklyn' and, to be honest, most of the series probably won't feature him and his pirate crew, but he's, with Racetrack, the focus of the main part in the series.

Summary
Rumour has it, someone tried to dethrone Spot Conlon is about Spot fending off a attempted usurper to the throne of Brooklyn and going to the Manhattan lodgings after being stabbed due to reasons you can read in chapter 3.
This is about cool Newsie-politics but also pining, because why not?Rumour has it, Spot and Race have a history is mostly about little short stories (around 1-4 chapters probably?) revolving in this universe. For example:

Summary
Skittery turned to see Bumlets lowering a hand, and asked if he had seen the flash, namely what he presumed to be lightning. But Bumlets just shook his head, saying with calm confidence that it wasn’t storming. Glancing back at the door and window, Skittery came to a reasonable conclusion: he’d just blinked and it had appeared to be lightning.
That kind of thing happened sometimes. It was normal.

Over the years, Skittery built up a strong wall of explanations for unidentifiable things and dubious possibilities. Unfortunately, his denial isn't infallible, and he's forced to confront the truth in due time.

A collection of newsies fics I've written over time, because this is my comfort media and I love these boys very much. All of them take place in the same timeline, but any of them can be read on their own.
Disclaimer: they are written from a movie-verse perspective since that's what I grew up watching; that's not meant to gatekeep/deter anyone, just if there are any inconsistencies with the Broadway musical that's probably why.

Spot nodded, and took a deep breath “I just don't know Racer it’s like I feel like I just can’t live . Between Brooklyn, and the goddamn strike, and now Cowboy gettin’ arrested .” His eyes started to water as he continued “I’m either gaining responsibilities I didn’t want or losin’ people I do and I-” His voice cracked, and the tears started to fall “I have the weight of the world on my shoulders and I feel like it’s crushing me and I-....and I can’t fucking breathe Racer .”
Race looked at him with wide eyes, cigar fiddling through his fingers. “ Spotty ,” He whispered, before wrapping the taller boy in a hug, and Spot lost his composure. He let out a sob wrapping his arms around Racetrack, and leaning into the warm embrace. Race rubbed his back as Spot sobbed, “I gotcha Spotty, I ain’t goin’ nowhere. I promise .”
