Summary
This au is written entirely by me, but a BIG thanks to my partner for giving me so much motivation and ideas to keep this thing going for as long as it'll go. Anyway onto the info:

Despite the very sad first part to this, this au is centered around things being relatively better than in canon.
The main idea is that nobody dies, and of course that sets up a bunch of other things to happen and not happen, thus making things way better than before.
Why did I set this in the 80s? 1 for an excuse to change their styles, and 2... I have no idea.

Summary
The Curtis parents died later. Darry managed to make it through college, and he managed to bring Soda along with him to get better schooling. The only thing he left behind was Ponyboy, in the hands of Dallas Winston and the rest of the gang. After five years, Darry and Soda return back to Tulsa, only to try to demand Ponyboy back.
Ponyboy doesn't want to go with them. He's nervous, and something in his gut was telling him something bad is going to happen.
He just needs to survive it.
