After Odysseus made his grand escape from Poseidon's wrath by using the winds of Aeolus, a curse was placed upon him.
A cursed that entailed he would slowly forget every core memory he bears for the one who taught him that 'mercy is a skill more of this world could learn to use.' And because he still didn't view Ruthelessness as the only true form of Mercy, and denying a god the satisfaction of having one cling to every word of his, might just bear a price that is too expensive to be paid by just apologies or sacrifices.

Rafayel stares in amusement as your hand grappled with the air in an attempt to find his palm without making you turn towards him. Finally, after a few aggressive pokes around his midriff and a very close miss from his bicep, he rolled his eyes before lifting his palm and grabbing your arm and pulling you close to him in a fluent motion, resting his head on your shoulder, with your body angled away from him. He then places his hand, with the flames still alit, in front and continues, blatantly ignoring your confused squeak and unnaturally crimson tinted cheeks.

Summary
This fic (at first) follows the basic storyline of Demon Slayer, starting with chapter 106 of the manga, found in volume 12 (weird place to start, I know, but just bare with me).
I've added a few characters, removed a few characters, and drastically altered something. I've also spared the lives of a few characters that were killed off in the original, killed a few characters whose lives were spared in the original, and changed a few details about the franchise. These things gradually change the story to divert from the original story more and more to the point that the story becomes virtually unrecognizable and also extends far past what was the ending in the original.
This is the base/original/source (whatever you want to call it) for all of my Demon Slayer fics so I recommend reading it before any of them. It is the groundwork that has been made for the rest of the alternate universe fics in this series.
