Summary
Eddie has established himself as a fairly succesful illustrator. He's settled down from the partying of his youth and finding maybe, sometimes, being in a big city can feel sort of lonely.
Steve and Robin have set a path for themselves in Hawkins. It's their hometown and they want to help make it a place more people like them want to live and plant roots.
Wayne just wants to enjoy a pint and some baseball. (And maybe for Eddie to realize there's so much worth coming back to Hawkins waiting here for him).

Steve has been able to put the enigma that is Eddie into his "annoying people he finds hot" category in his head in order to not confuse himself for a long time. But when he eventually snaps and somehow pushes them into an almost enemies-with-benefits relationship, it isn't long before his feelings catch up with him.

“Not what I asked.” Eddie steps closer, and Steve turns again, putting his back to the door. They stand next to each other, arms just inches from touching, and Steve exhales harshly. On his next inhale he catches the scent of leather and roses, covered over with cheap soap and cigarette smoke. “Do you wanna talk about it?” Eddie asks.
“Not really…” Talking about it is the last thing Steve wants, but he also wants to keep standing in Eddie’s space and sharing his air.
