A modern AU wherein Kaz, son of a paramilitary ghost, begins his life as a prepper on a farm near the town of Lij. Many stories are included of those intense early years in the Barrel, but eventually Kaz is recruited as a field operative and computer hacker for a secret agency, unfettered by government connections, that handles dangerous, high-stakes missions.Along the way, Kaz meets and recruits each of our beloved Crows to a team rivaling any put together by Ethan Hunt of the Mission Impossible movie series!

Wylan, Jesper, and Nina flee back to Ravka, but when the Wandering Isle closes its harbor and the Fjerdans threaten war, Nikolai needs a crew that can infiltrate Maroch Castle and gather information.
