Mike watches her eyes flash under the overhead light, her cheeks flush with laughter, her hand tangle with his in an attempt to grab a card out from under him. There’s something enormous swelling in his chest, something he doesn’t have any of the words for, and he knows that he needs to tell her now or he’ll never get the guts to again.
