Summary
With the death of her adoptive mother, the ancient dragon Gaiasax, Liiva is left to flee a hunting party of drakes baying for her blood. With nowhere left to turn she prostrates herself before the dragonlord Placidusax and pleads for his mercy, his will directing her towards the Scadu Realm. Despite much friction and uncertainty of his intentions, Liiva precariously aligns herself with the the self-proclaimed Lord of this land, the so-called Impaler.
Unbeknownst to the two of them, they are now at the heart of a feud that has been waging before the beginning of history. It is a trial that both tests and nurtures their growing affections – discovering what it means to be human and the love between a dragon and a serpent.

She cried out instinctively – a broken, lewd sort of thing – her legs giving way as she fell to the floor, barely managing to catch herself as she braced on her hands and knees. Every limb shook as if she were bitterly cold, yet the fire searing through each vein made sweat flash across her skin, beading against the back of her neck.
“S—stop talking,” she managed through clenched teeth, begging the sensations to stop. She feared if he spoke another word in that deliciously dark, soft tone she would careen into madness completely.

Now a reluctant ally to the Order she despises, she must learn to get along with the Fell Omen while they both infiltrate Volcano Manor to find Rykard.
