He meets her eyes, but it feels too heavy to match, so he looks away again. She seems to do the same, instead looking to the streets to open her mouth and whisper, “Do your… Do your powers not have consequences like mine Grian? You...You don’t act like they do.”
Grian laughs. He can’t help it really. The very idea of something like consequences for him bubbles amusement in his throat as he sings and boasts, “Nope!” With a grin on his face and a new pep in his step as he walks across the rooftop with wings fluttering out behind him, “No consequences here, Pearl! Cool innit?”
(Or Grian’s made a lot of mistakes in his life, all fixable of course, but this… this is one that will never truly quit haunting him)
FYI This Fic is Grian’s backstory in ‘Something of Yours’ and contains a lot of spoilers for it, so I recommend reading that fic first as it may not make sense without it.

His name was Tommy Innes, and he was born to touch the stars.
Of course, touching the stars was going to have to wait, because he'd lost that dream the moment his parents had died when he was ten years old—the moment he had watched that starship explosion and felt a bit of his heart die with them. He'd lost that dream when he was transported to prison and then to a place called Pogtopia.
He'd lost that dream when he watched hundreds of children starve on the streets of Pogtopia. When he and two friends become the lone survivors of the Red Planet's Genocide. When they were rescued, and he was captured again.
But maybe—maybe one day, he would regain that dream. Maybe he would hunt down the mass murderer that had executed his friends and gain his revenge—but that day was not now, and now he sat in a prison and stared at the faraway stars.
Perhaps there would be people that he could call family again. People he would see again—people whom he had lost years ago. One day.
Because he was an Avian, born to be forever alone amongst broken stars.
And Avians did not fall unless they wanted to.

Wilbur's eyes flicker over to them. "Uh – " he swallows. "Um, yes. Sure. If – if you have to."
And then she helps him peel off his hoodie. And then his shirt. And Technoblade's throat goes dry.
Wilbur is covered in bruises. And usually, Techno knows, that's hyperbole, but no – this is honest. There's no blowing up the blue and black mottling his back, or his side, or his arm. His injured shoulder is actually the only part of him that's not marked up, and Techno is guessing that once the pain sets in, it won't stay that way for long.
This, Techno thinks, is much, much more than he was expecting, and much, much more than he was ready to deal with.

Tommy's eyes flit over to him. Techno expects him to wave, to drift over, to let relief wash over his expression- seeing them as his respite from anything else he has to face. But no, that doesn't happen. Tommy casts his eyes over the lot of them and there isn't a single moment of recognition. No light, no relief. He looks even further confused, actually, with the way that his brow furrows.
"Tommy?" Techno says again, but Tommy turns forward, continuing his walk like they mean nothing to him. Like Techno means nothing to him.

“And everyone is so old,” Tubbo complains. Somehow, without them knowing about it, Tubbo’s managed to swipe a waffle and is chewing on it happily. Sapnap stifles a laugh. “Well, not everyone, I guess- the kid in our room is our age, I think. He might be younger.”
Wilbur perks up. “Does he ice skate?”
“Yeah, he does. He’s got these sick skates and everything.” Tubbo explains. “He’s quiet though. We tried talking to him, but…”
“But?”
Tubbo shrugs. "He's quiet. He doesn't talk much. I guess he's busy."
