Grace shakes his head, bringing himself back into the moment. “Sorry, Rock. What’d you say?”
“What Grace want for birthday,” Rocky repeats himself, tone more insistent this time.
“Y’know,” Grace says, deciding an unrealistic idea is better than no idea at all, “I think I want a hug from my best friend. If you can figure that one out, you’ll never have to get me another birthday gift again.”
“Rocky will continue to get Grace gifts anyway.” Grace flushes at the declaration, which he does not want to address. Rocky is quiet for a moment after, tapping his claws on the ground in thought. And before Grace can tell him he was just joking, don’t worry about it, just make him some xenonite barbells so he doesn’t lose these muscles so fast, Rocky is perking up and skittering to leave the room again. “Rocky know how to get Grace gift! Will take some time. Late gift. Will make up for it next Earth year.”
(Or, the one where Rocky's birthday present to Grace ends up getting a little out of hand.)

March had his palm read once, years back, by a hack psychic in a gaudy tent at some old timey carnival Holly had begged to go to. She'd taken one look at his craggy hands – two fingers bandaged at the time - and told him, in no uncertain terms, that if he didn't slow down, boy, he was gonna hurt himself. He tipped her very badly.
Suffice to say, he did not often have the appearance of a man in control of his own destiny.

Holland was so heartbreakingly obvious, Jack almost felt bad for him. Sometimes, the urge to take pity and swoop down—grab Holland by the tie, or the colorful lapel—and just plant one on him was almost too strong to bear.
But he couldn’t be sure whether Holland wanted him because he wanted him, or if it was because Jack was already there, steady and useful and safe. If it was only because of that, then it wasn’t worth the risk of losing the good thing they already had going, no matter how much Jack wanted him, too.

Summary
The Avengers all swap bodies, with Steve ending up in Ironman's. It's a nightmare for multiple reasons, mostly because Steve has no idea who Ironman actually is, and he'd rather die than be the one to expose his friend's well-kept secret.
What Ironman doesn't know is that Steve has a secret of his own. One of the mushy, romantic kind. And being this close to Ironman, after all these years of desperately wanting it?
It just might be a bigger temptation than he can resist.

It shouldn’t have been such a surprise, really. Riku’s heart belonged to Sora, he knew that. Every beat of his pulse etched it deeper into his skin, and every time Sora turned to smile at him it made his stomach flip for fear that this time Sora would see it – would catch him in the act of an unguarded look, or a touch that lingered too long. He was careful, so careful not to let that happen.
But his heart belonged to Sora, and Sora had just reached right in and taken it, was holding it in his hands like it was the most natural thing in the world. Just casually stripped away all the protective layers around Riku’s soul and laid the evidence bare. All that effort, that delicate balancing act of keeping his feelings appropriately disguised, laid to waste in an instant.

Sora and Riku accidentally discover a new facet of how deep their bond goes. Sora is delighted; Riku is tormented by Feelings.

Summary
Riku had never missed one of Sora's birthdays and that was absolute fact. He kind of intended to change that tradition with this one, though. Sora had dozens of other friends. He was popular, captain of the soccer team, everything Riku wasn't and would never be. Why should he go to his childhood friend's stupid birthday party when they've barely talked in three years?
He might have actually skipped it if Sora hadn't actually invited him, but, well - even if they weren't friends anymore, it was hard to deny Sora anything.

Maybe it was stupid to think he could outrun time on a pirate ship, sail away from one island and take Riku and run to another and expect that to bring back everything that was lost; haul in the heavy anchors they all dragged in their wake in the course of a day.
But he’s Sora, and he's done more impossible things than this. So he’s going to try.
