There’s a sudden rustling sound as Blackbeard kicks something across the floor. Frenchie bends down to retrieve it, and sees that it’s a notebook. Wide and empty, like that one Lucius used to carry around with him.
“Write us a better ending then.”
(Captain Blackbeard has heard about Frenchie’s ‘bit of fanfiction.’ He asks him to write a better ending for his and Stede’s story. Frenchie tries his best but soon other people want to tell the story the way it should have gone, including Fang, Lucius, Ivan, Jim, and ultimately Ed. In the act of surviving and telling stories together, relationships are considered, examined, and developed. Meanwhile, a ship trailing seagulls grows closer and closer on the horizon.)

Of course the travel agency had chosen to send Ed on this work trip with his recently hired, newly divorced, absolutely devastatingly handsome colleague that he totally did not have a crush on.
But he couldn’t exactly hit on his coworker when they were stuck for weeks together in another country, despite the fact that it was actively driving him insane to be in such close proximity to him all the time.

Summary
After revealing to his ex-wife that he has a boyfriend, Stede ends up promising to bring him to the Christmas Eve dinner they always have together – Stede, Mary, her new husband, and the kids.
Problem is, it's a lie. Stede has never been more single. And now, he needs a plan. Or rather, four plans.
Plan A: Find a boyfriend before Christmas Eve.
Plan B: Find someone to pretend to be his boyfriend before Christmas Eve (Lucius will jump in, if necessary, but Mary sort of knows him, so it's not ideal).
Plan C: Pretend to break up with non-existent boyfriend right before Christmas Eve. The pros are possible sympathy points, the cons are the non-zero chances that Mary will figure out there never was a boyfriend in the first place.
Plan D: Come clean.Stede really doesn't want to do plan D.
