Summary
The other nobles didn't have to tolerate pointed comments about their intelligence or the size of their waistline (which had not changed an inch, no matter what Merlin said.) They did not have to suffer messy chambers and the frustration of a manservant who would not do what he was told unless it suited him.
And perhaps Arthur was petty, but it did give him some small satisfaction to see Merlin scowling at him from the edge of the duelling ring.
'He'll turn you into a frog,' Gwaine said cheerfully, swearing as Arthur dodged the blow of his sword and smacked Gwaine's exposed side with the flat of his own weapon. 'Chuck you in a well and leave you there.'
Arthur discovers there's a difference between knowing Merlin has magic, and truly seeing it for himself.

His cheeks burned just saying it, but he couldn’t stop grinning. He hugged the book to his chest, heels kicking against the mattress like he could barely contain the fizz of joy in his veins. Somewhere out there was a person who would hold his hand, look at him with adoration, and kiss him soft and slow under the moonlight. Someone who would choose him – just him – over and over, and say, I love you, soulmate. And it would be the most romantic thing in the world.

Наконец-то гребаного главгероя выпилили как он того и заслуживал. Ну потому что нихрена он не белый лотос, да и не был им никогда. Да и в любовь к учителю с самого начала не верилось. Он себя вел как ребенок, получивший в руки новую игрушку, а мир и Система ему подыгрывали.
И Шэнь Цинцю наконец-то соответствует статусу главы Пика Искусств: умный, хороший аналитик, его поступки логичны, да и странности вокруг протагониста вычислил на раз-два.
