Knowing Paimon, she was. Even if it broke her, she would have to know what was happening to him. She was stubborn about the people she cared about.
So he lied. “I'm okay,” he said, knowing Paimon wasn't going to believe that. “I've had worse.” Maybe she'd believe that. He was pretty sure it was true.
A dreadful realization hit him all at once. “You're alive, right?” He asked the blinking light. “He didn't kill you, right?”

“We'll have to,” Nefer answered. “Flins, I can't see him, but I can assume by the commotion that Aether can't walk on his own.”
Flins glanced down at Aether, who had taken a break from struggling and screaming to stare absently and glassy-eyed at the sky. “That's accurate,” he said.
_______Aether didn't get hurt enough in the fight with Rerir, so I fixed it and charged interest.

Summary
Tang has never felt this level of agony before in his life.
Sure, he’d been in more than a few rough and tumble situations that led to a concerning amount of bleeding wounds or broken ribs (he had Macaque to thank for those) but he’d never suffered the worst of the worst at the end of the day. Usually the big, concerning, life and death injuries were collected by Mei, MK and the Monkey King. Pigsy and Sandy also took their fair share of hard hits over the course of their adventures.
Tang knew he was likely to get in the way of their brawls and typically tried to stay to the sidelines as much as he could while still putting on the mask of “kick ass scholar support with mystic magic”.Apparently, his slim streak of luck has run out and whatever form of fate existed, decided he needed to speedrun catching up with his friends on the ‘feeling immense pain’ side of things.
