Its grip refused to falter, as the enshrined spirit had been presented this land as their place of worship as well as their chain to the physical world. An unease plagued Yuji’s chest as a result. His movements were hesitant as he pushed his way inside to be met with an unnatural darkness. If only his lantern had not been blown out by the wind, as he possessed nothing to battle such horrid weather in an effort to rekindle the flame. Now that he was inside a place devoid of anything but the howling sound echoing from outside, he could not even see his own fingers in front of his face, let alone search through his tools in an effort to start a fire.
“This shrine… The kami they worshiped must be of the earth.”

Amusement flickers over Tsumiki’s face. “I hope I didn’t interrupt anything?” Her succeeding smile would seem nothing but angelic to the regular bystander, but Megumi knows her well enough to spot the mischief behind her eyes when she looks pointedly at Megumi. Megumi, not for the first time, regrets ever being forthcoming with her, especially about slightly embarrassing, definitely one-sided crushes. He should have known she would never let him live it down.
Itadori’s face is progressively turning redder. Megumi thinks he can almost visualize the way words flounder in his head, so he decides to spare him the agony.
“Itadori was just leaving,” he says, staring pointedly back at his sister. “Right, Itadori?” He glances expectantly at the other, almost surprised when he seems to visibly deflate.
“Uh, yeah,” Itadori eventually agrees, uncharacteristically quiet and subdued. He starts shoving his papers into the backpack he’d brought over, but he’s not meeting Megumi’s eyes. Megumi frowns.
