Wei Wuxian calls Wen Ning to him to try and find out what's been happening to his friend all these years. What he finds is that someone has been using his friend in terrible ways.
Wei Wuxian reached out to touch the manacle around one of Wen Ning's wrists. Wen Ning moved faster than his eye could follow, his hand snapping out and clamping around Wei Wuxian's wrist instead.
"Wen Ning," Wei Wuxian said, a nervous little laugh in his voice. "Let me go."
Wen Ning didn't move. He stared at Wei Wuxian with nothing behind his eyes.
