He whimpers and buries his head into the side of Nicholas’s throat, tears building in his eyes again. He presses closer to him, shifting until he can get his legs around Wolfwood’s waist, ankles locking behind his back.
(Or, Vash hates his wings. Wolfwood doesn’t.)

“Well, well, well, Needle Noggin, about time you showed up.”
Vash steeled himself before turning and facing his least favorite coworker on the seasonal team. Kicked back against the wall of the alley, puffy red suit blinding and stupid smirk peeking out from the gap in a ratty fake-beard, was the Mall Santa.
“Wolfwood,” Vash said cooly, glancing at the cigarette pinched in the guy’s hand. “Another smoke break?”
They hadn’t gotten off to a good start at the beginning of the season, when Vash was just trying to enjoy a little (extra large) snack (box of donuts) in the alleyway on his break (first thing in the morning) only for Santa Clause to suddenly appear behind him and say ‘Isn’t that too much sugar?’ The surprise made Vash drop his donuts all over the dirty ground, and the man didn’t even apologize or offer to pay him back. He just laughed. And to make matters worse, when Vash tried to brush it off and politely exchange introductions after asking the guy’s name, Wolfwood just shook his hand and said ‘Needle Noggin. It suits you.’

Finally, Wolfwood sat back on his heels, looked Vash over, and threw the sodden towel across the room. It landed in the corner with a wet smack. A gnawing silence passed between them as Wolfwood ran his hands through his hair.
“Vash,” he said, and for the first time in all the while he’d known him, Vash heard his voice break. Just a hairline fracture, but there all the same. “That animal did something to you.”
Vash grinned, showing all his shining new teeth. They were bigger and longer than his old ones. His jaw popped just a little trying out its new smile. “I feel okay, though.”
Following a trail of mysterious and violent attacks, Vash is bitten by a strange creature in the desert. Soon his body begins to undergo a dangerous transformation, and a creeping, hungry darkness takes root in his mind.
A werewolf!Vash fic with a generous dose of body horror, a long road trip, and a lot of Vashwood h/c.

A surge of malicious energy suddenly hit him, making him struggle to stand on his feet. This fucker- Nick gritted his teeth around his cigarette, trying to fight off the dizziness. Ok. So maybe this ghost was tougher than he was anticipating. He dropped the rosary, drawing his holy water gun as the salt along the edges of the circle slowly started to scatter and the mist started congealing into a humanoid shape, face screwed in pain.
“AND LEAD US NOT TO TEMPTATION-” he shouted above the now-audible scream of the ghost. “BUT DELIVER US FROM-”
“Wait!”
Through his haze, Nick could see a new figure, blonde and seemingly bathed in light, moving towards him. An angel? he thought deliriously. And then that angel was charging straight into the summoning circle and scattering the rest of the salt.
“Blondie, what the fu-” the mist in the center exploded outward, sending Nick and the intruder flying backwards as the ghost broke free, detached form disappearing off into the night.
