Summary
With his sister leaving him and her friends following suit, Zuko finds his life crumbling in front of him, only able to watch.
The more Azula thinks of her recent interactions with her brother, the more she realises how much she has fucked up.
The problem is, there's a war to be won, a war to end, which means that, whether they like it or not, they will have to fight one more time, under that fated comet.
(This is an alternate ending to the series this fic is part of, and isn't actually canon. Yes, I do get the irony, and I think it's funny.)

He can’t look. He can’t tear his eyes away from the man in front of him.
“You’re not running.” The man gives a cruel smile, as sharp as the sword in his hand as he steps closer. The metal makes a horrible screech against the concrete; a line of white scar upon the ground trails behind each step. “Don’t you know you should be? Do you think I’ll show you mercy you don’t deserve?”

Toph doesn't know what her Soulscripts say and she doesn't care. Who needs soulmates anyway?
They make it work, in the end.Or: All four nations have different ways of finding their soulmates, but they do find them. Eventually.

Summary
Soulmarks are a weakness. Azula has always known that.
They only bloom when you love someone - their name, written on you, a brand that shows who exactly is your weakness. Father has no soulmarks; he has left none on anyone else, either. Soulmarks are a weakness; he says this, and because it is him, the word is law.
Azula shouldn't have soulmarks. And for the most part, she doesn't. She does not have her mother's name, Ursa, like Zuko does; she does not have Father's name, Ozai, either—but then again, neither does mother or Zuko as well. She doesn't have Iroh's name either, unlike Zuko and Lu Ten, but Azula is okay with this because compared to father, everyone else is not worth her time.
She already knew she was unlovable—that no one loves her, that no one will. That, after all, is how it's supposed to be; Azula is not a creature of love—she can only burn.
And yet, right on her wrist, is the name Zuko.
