Summary
Jayce arrives in Red Rock following the disappearance of the last priest. What he finds is a town drowning in temptation, and a man able to draw his own desires to the surface against every vow he has made.
“Does this feel like corruption, Father?”
“You tempted Salo, did you not?” Jayce’s hands were flat behind him, spreading on the altar. He watched Viktor's approach with bated breath, caught between his duty to flee and his urge to submit, knowing finally which he was committed to.
“It had merely been my presence,” Viktor tilted his head to the side, breaking the last of the space between them. Chest to chest, his breath was hot on Jayce’s cheek when he spoke, “His mind was weak, imperfect. He fell to his own avarice, my being there was just a catalyst to his own self destruction. Fallible, human feeling.”
“And… to me. You’re… Doing the same to me?”
“I am not doing anything to you, Jayce,” Viktor, the picture of innocence, the Morningstar. The glass of the Garden poured on him now, the amber of his eyes caught in the apple-sin glaze, “Does it feel like I am?” -

“I think I romanticised the idea a little, of drifting. I thought there was something so beautiful about it, giving yourself over to someone fully to work together. When I put myself on the line, and I failed, it was awful. Cost me my relationship and my pilot licence.”
“You are assuming the guilt, but there was another variable. You, alone, cannot shoulder all the blame.” Viktor argued, flipping through papers on their desk as he spoke, “Compatibility is a choice between two points of interest, not a failure of one half.”
He gestured to the laboratory around them, the accumulation of several years working together. It was consolatory, proof that Jayce could collaborate with others.

Summary
Jayce's life falls apart when a burglary causes his unorthodox experiments to explode, ruining his reputation and stripping him of his freedom. The night before the council decides whether he should be outlawed or imprisoned, Viktor finds him on the precipice and offers an alternative path - to steal back as much of his mad science as he can, and willingly go on the run with him.
Equipped with his research and his newfound partner, Jayce's life as an outlaw spirals quickly into a fight for survival while they search for a way to synthesise miracles and help the other cowboys they meet along the way.

Summary
Working in the lab had given Viktor ample time to observe Jayce, and he couldn't stop himself from forming his own theories about his partner.
'Hypothesis, easy. Jayce could be brought down to earth, simply through physical touch. That one Viktor wasn’t even sure he needed to test – if he looked back over their time working together, he was certain this would be self-evident.
Hypothesis, intermediate. He could get Jayce to be more compliant if he maintained skin-on-skin contact. Jayce was in no means a difficult person to work with – they complimented each other in how they operated, moved around each other with the function on a perfect machine – but he was excitable, too. Sensitive, emotionally. Viktor wondered if some of his more high-strung sensibilities couldn’t be countered by the same touch that brought him back from his research.
Hypothesis, difficult. This was exclusive to Viktor’s touch alone.'

“Your inclination to generosity is one I wish to reciprocate,” The Mindflayer responded, an edge to his words Tav was unsure how to place. Omeluum seemed to regard him for a moment longer before he finished his thought, “Afterall, I too feel some… warmth at your presence.”'

“Tell me the truth, I did that, didn’t I?” Yujis hand dropped, then sharply struck up again, covering the space between his eyes and his cheek. Of course, Sukuna would have something to say now, after remaining dormant for so long in the last few weeks. Muffled under Yuji’s palm came the quietest sound of snickering, “That was from me at the detention centre, wasn’t it?”
“It wasn’t you,” Megumi shrugged, reaching to rub a pseudo-ache on his shoulder. After all, it hadn’t been that fall that broke him, “Don’t blame yourself for that. They had not yet reached smog levels, but the air was certainly thicker than Serkanos, even this close to the shoreline. Salty bile tingled on his tongue as he headed closer to the sea, crossing the royal gardens and climbing across a vent along the lock-side, gaining a better vantage point. Beneath him water lapped at the walls with finite consistency. Corvo drew the heart, aiming nowhere in particular, and listening intently.
'For the first time in centuries, he walks the shores once more.'
Corvo, restless in the time of peace following Emily's crowning, finds The Outsider washed up on Dunwall's shore, weakened from unknown causes and disturbingly human. Working together with what was once a god wasn't what Corvo had expected, and they must hide The Ousider's identity while keeping him in the tower, as well as 'borrowing' Sokolov's research into the void to send the deity back. Maybe it was the humanity that does it, in the end.
