Viktor brings a timid hand up to Jayce’s back, right over where his scar should be. It’s almost as if he’s touching the center of his sins and, whether unknowingly or not, absolving him.
“You said you aren’t my Jayce,” he says carefully.
“But I can pretend to be yours. I want to be,” Jayce whispers, words exhaled into the curve of Viktor’s neck that stays unmarred by any inscribed runes. His mouth remains open, lips hovering right over one of his darker moles. Viktor shudders under his touch. “Do you want that?”
Or: Jayce is sent back too far, and finds himself right before Viktor hits the point of no return. Jayce shows him that Viktor's use of the hexcore changes nothing between them.

Summary
Viktor’s throat closes as he sinks under the spell of Jayce’s hopeful gaze, a large thumb drawing gentle circles over the back of his hand.
“I…might need to kiss you.” Viktor’s utters feebly, the ache in his chest becoming more prominent the closer Jayce drifts.
“I think so, too.” Jayce responds, already leaning in before the words fully leave him. Their lips capture one another. The fierce press is a greeting, a reunion, and a desperate plea for a gentler future. It’s all pushed and declared openly into the passionately tender contact of their lips. It surges up more tears within them, both of Viktor’s hands holding onto Jayce’s face as a large hand keeps him close, by the base of his neck. Viktor melts deeper against Jayce’s lips before sliding up to sit across his legs.

And he knows only he and Jayce could hear Jayce’s whimpers as a metal thumb barely brushed against the inside of his lips and squeezed tight round his neck.
