She and Deacon do a reconnaissance mission that leads to killer robots, cool cats, false allies... and sexual innuendos?!? Somewhere along the way, Nora starts developing feelings for her partner. Feelings that would end their partnership the moment Desdemona found out. So she buries them and keeps moving forward, never noticing that the man beside her has been keeping his own secret for far longer than she could have ever known.

Summary
When Deacon finds a woman frozen inside the vault he was strictly prohibited from entering, she becomes something of a pet project of his. As is his job, he gathers intel on this mysterious vault-dweller… and quickly finds that he is completely wrong about her. She is kind, generous, sharp, and haunted by ghosts she prays will never find her.
Maybe the two of them aren’t so different.
Their new partnership brings growing pains for both of them, but Charmer soon settles comfortably into her new position in the Railroad. Deacon, on the other hand, can’t seem to shake the feeling that she’s dangerous. To the Commonwealth? To the Railroad? To the comfortable loneliness Deacon has carefully curated for himself by building walls and keeping strict boundaries under the guise of snarky one-liners and constant lies, just so he can ensure the safety of the people he loves?

Nora is the Director for the Institute after taking over from Shaun’s death. She battles with her inner demons as she tries to unify the Commonwealth together, hoping to dispel the secrets and pain that her son had caused during his reign.
Nora is still the General for the Minutemen, still working with the Railroad and still trying to keep her standing within the Brotherhood of Steel, all along whilst trying to rebuild the Institute from the inside out.
As she tries to balance all the stresses and responsibilities that come with her titles, Nora tries to find meaning for herself. Can she find happiness in a world that is so intent on causing her pain?

"I...I can't believe it," she hid the shock in her voice and on her face as they stood in the room.
Her eyes were fixated on the blue crib in front of her. She never signed up for this; it was never part of the plan.
“I know!” the curled smile on his face was unsettling, the smile that was keeping a million secrets from her. “A baby, isn’t it great? Someone to carry on my legacy. He’s the luckiest boy in the world,” he sounded sickeningly happy, as if it was perfectly normal to have a baby thrusted into her arms.
"That he is," she smiled, the most fake sincere smile she could muster.
Nathaniel was always a little unhinged but this was madness.
She looked down at the tiny baby in her arms and tugged him closer to her chest.
Shaun. Said the embroidery on his blanket. Pre-named and pre-made.
She watched as his mouth opened just a tiny amount and he sighed out a silent yawn, his eyes opened for a split second and the sea of blue hit her. She had green eyes herself and she looked up to see Nathaniel’s hollow brown eyes look lovingly at her.

“Everyone quiet” Hancock interrupted the group's idle conversation, reaching over and turning up the volume so they could hear the broadcast.
“The representatives have reached a decision on the Nora Foster trial." the announcer paused. Nora couldn’t breathe, “For her crimes against the Commonwealth, Nora Foster has been sentenced to ten years serving with the Commonwealth minutemen. She will cut all ties with the raiders from Nuka and commit herself to the families affected by her recent string of murders.”
This wasn't how it was supposed to go, "Anyone with information surrounding her former gang's whereabouts is encouraged to come forward. They will be punished to the furthest extent of the law."
Highly recommend reading "Dogs and Vultures" before starting due to number of non-canon events
